What's your ultimate box set...

Okay, so what boxset do you want? Star Wars and Indy aside.
There has to a theme or common thread. But what's yours?

Me? I haven't bought any Coen Bros. movies because I know in my heart they'll do the right thing. I know it's across studios, but who wouldn't ant a box set with:

Blood Simple
Barton Fink
Raising Arizona
Hudsucker
Fargo
Miller's Crossing
O Brother
Man Who Wasn't There

I'd pay top dollar for that set. (Yes, I know I left off Big Liebowski. I did that on purpose.)

Pretty simple for me:

Sugarland Express
Jaws
E.T. (the '82 original, thank you very much!)
Jurassic Park
Schindler's List

(Of course, Star Wars, Episode 4, 5 & 6 would be the ultimate ulitmate box set, but only with the original versions, and that ain't gonna happen )

A Spielberg set would be great, but since someone already mentioned it.......

For me:

LOTR:FOTR
LOTR:The Two Towers
LOTR:The Return of the King
LOTR (Bashki animated version, for the sake of completeness)
The Hobbit
The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and Silmarillion centennary editions autographed by cast and crew.
Lord of the Rings BBC audio drama.
And of course disks with lots and lots of extras..

For cripes sake.....

GIVE ME MAD MAX!!!!!

I realize that it will never happen due to the movies being released from different studios but maybe someday one studio will get all the rights. A boy can dream can't he?

Also, Warner needs to get off their duffs and re-release The Road Warrior already. My copy of that bare-bones single-layer disc is starting to wear out.

I'd love a boxset of The Real Ghostbusters. Every episode, uncut and as they originally aired. The Slimer! series would have to be included as well.

E.T. -- 1982 & 2002 cuts, theatrical trailers, retro documentary and deleted scenes all watchable on my tv set. It seems so simple.

And of course, the Star Wars movies with the original theatrical versions, the 97 SEs and the coming super duper version not yet made.

I already own it!!!:

The Remastered Stanley Kubrick Collection

Although I'd love to see more director themed filmographies as boxsets (ala Stanley Kubrick, Oliver Stone, Woody Allen), despite the difficulty it would be to get different studios to collaborate.

I'd love:

- The Complete Coen Brothers Collection as well.
- The Complete David Lynch Collection
- The Complete Martin Scorsese Collection
- The Complete Spike Lee Collection
- Freaks and Geeks: The Complete Series (only one season)
- Undeclared: The Complete Series (only one season)
- Homicide: Life on the Streets - The Complete Series
- The Complete Short Films of Paul Thomas Anderson
- The Complete Short Films of Martin Scorsese
- The Complete Short Films of David Cronenberg
- The Music Videos of Spike Jonze

..... a man can dream.

If they ever start rolling out sets of Seinfeld seasons I would never ask for another thing again. I even have thoughts of making my own once my iMac with DVD burner gets here, but I won't. I'd much rather let Columbia Tristar do the work though, but I won't hold my breath.

Don't be so sure of that. 2006 is still a ways off and a lot can happen between now and then. Also, we know that Lucas changes his mind quite often. If he sees there is a genuine demand for the Originals and he can make a lot of money on it, he will do it. That's why we have Episode I on DVD with Ep. II on the way this Oct.-Nov. Its not because he has everyone is available to help with the special features. Sure, that's part of it, but the main reason is that he saw this as the appropriate time because consumer demand was high. He even mentions that, but I'll have to find the article to find his exact words. It was the same article where he said he is waiting until 2006 on the original trilogy because he has some more things to put into it and he will have to pull together all of those who worked on that trilogy so they can contribute to the extra features.

I posted a while ago about a Miyazaki boxset which turned out to be a bootleg.. I'd love for the Studio Ghibli/Disney partnership to put out a great Miyazaki boxset, with all the films in anamorphic. with Japanese and english sound tracks. And extras if you've got any but that's no big whoop if there aren't any.

And the main thing I hope for in the Star Wars set, should it ever exist, is that their spines are all identical. With the roman numerals at the bottom like the Episode I disc. That would just make my day.

The original versions would be nice as well.

The best hope we have is if the E.T. deluxe set with the '82 version is a big hit. If that happens, I'm sure George could take note and decide to release the originals in a super-deluxe box set with the new-new-new 3.0 versions.

The regular OT DVDs will still be the latest versions ONLY.

I'm with Newt and Yoda - bring on Mary Hartman and Bottom!

Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman has a better chance at DVD now that All in the Family, Sanford & Son and The Jeffersons are being released.

And, because BBC home video is releasing The Young Ones, maybe they'll follow up with Bottom. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

My dream boxed set would be The Thin Man movies all collected in one set. I don't know what it is about those films but I love the hell out of them.

No excuses needed! I've loved (like most others have, including most critics) Payne's first 2 films. And I'm HIGHLY anticipating About Schmidt, especially after the great words coming out of Cannes for the film and particularly Jack Nicholson's portrayal.
Sounds like a great boxset to me!!!

Too bad Universal seems to be doing everything they can to make it a flop.

I'd have to say:

Harry Potter - The Complete Collection, that is when they are all finished with the movies and everything! I'd buy them all over again, in a beautiful box set with fully loaded discs throughout and it'd be like 20 discs!
