Which of the *Godfather* movies is your favorite?

I've been wanting to do this one for a while.

For me personally, I have to give a slight edge to the first one over the second one. I think the themes of family are stronger, and it's more emotionally involving. I also think it's Pacino's best performance of the series. Part II is also superb. I do actually like Part III - I like the idea of Michael seeking redemption at the end of his life - but I do acknowldege that the movie is far inferior to the other two.

I tried to make the poll options as complete as possible. Sorry if none of the options describes you ideally.

You said pick your favorite, so you gotta choose just one (although I really fall in the 'first two are great' category). I think you have to lean towards number one just because it was first. The second film is outstanding as well but maybe just a cut (a pinch) below. I don't even recognize that third film was made. What crap that was IMO.

I like the first one, two I can handle it has it's redeming quality but three I don't care for. The director's daughter has got to go and it seemed stupid that Carla all of a sudden was getting involved in the family business.

I think Coppala was right, everything was tied up at the end of two, it seemed like they were streching in three.

I like them all but Brando in the original puts it on top.

I was gonna vote for 1 & 2. but I definitely like Goodfellas way better than the godfather movies.

I love The Godfather and The Godfather Part II and I also liked The Godfather Part III. I think Part II is a little bit better becuase of the spilt story line. I'd give Part I a 10/10 and Part II a 10/10 also and I'd have to say that Part III is a 8/10.

I may be the only one here to admit this. But I've never seen any of them.

You mean Connie?

Anywho, I chose Part II as my favorite, although its kind of a loaded question. Meaning that Part II could never be as good as it is if it didn't have the foundation of a great film like Part I to stand on.

The entire saga is one of my all-time favorites and I love the DVDs!

I tend to see the entire saga as the whole. They complete a story and while I can see how the First one is the best seperately...I have a hard time dividing them when they all work together.

I agree with Mighty Mint. It's three movies, but one story. I just have a special fondness for the first one.

Jerm - don't worry, no one is born having seen everything.

Bowman - I never thought of that. Good point.

While I love all three films, I'm probably the only person on the face of the planet that thinks Part II is the "weakest" of the three (for lack of a better term). It is certainly my least favorite, but then that's like picking your least favorite child (unless you have some terrible children and really do have one you hate, but hey, that's your problem ).

I voted for #1, which is my favorite and in my opinion best of the three.

I like all 3, but they do decline as they go along. Typical of most series I suppose...
