Gone With The Wind Special Edition?
Will we ever see a special edition of Gone With The Wind? If ever a film deserved the SE treatment, it's this one! Even the original MGM release shows a special features screenshot which included premiere footage, re-release footage, screen tests, & more. None of which ever made it onto the DVD. I'd like to see a multi-disc set that would include the documentary "The Making of a Legend: Gone With The Wind" along with the other stuff.

I would also love to see a special edition of Gone With the Wind, as it is my all time favourite (along with Wizard of OZ and Cleopatra, that is!) It also frustrates me when I look through the booklet of the MGM DVD, and see that at one time it may have been a special edition!

If a three disc set (movie on two, plus the 2 hour doc+extras) comes out, then I'm there.
Hopefully after this season's box sets and King Kong next year, Warner will return to this titles.

A boxed set would be phenomenal. I wonder what type of features were on the Laserdisc? (and was that a boxed set too?) Maybe that would give us an idea of what to find on the DVD, if and when it gets done. The two-hour documentary dvdjedi mentioned sounds great. (there's a whole 'nother story just behind the production of this huge film.)
The only downside is that this whole MGM/Warner deal sounds complicated (as mentioned in another thread) and it looks like they are sitting on a lot of classic gems without moving a single muscle. (They'd probably rank as one of the laziest studios right now) I'd love to see MGM movies like Grand Hotel, Mutiny on the Bounty, and Mrs. Miniver (all three of them Best Picture winners).
