When will the new Total Movie mag arrive?

It said on the website that the September issue will contain the movie "Species", but when will it come out? I just clicked on the banner on TME's website, and there is just a subscription offer. I dunno what's up with these guys, but I hope they make better functioning DVDs and more serious reviews than the other magazines, cuz pretty soon they're out of luck!

Also, which DVD magazine do you like better: Substance TV, Total Movie and ENtertainment, or MovieFX? I like Total Movie cause they have all the cool trailers, and I also like the OPM disc cause it's more fun than the dvd.

So far I've gotten two issues each of Total Movie and Movie FX, and I have to admit that both have their fair share of good features to it.

While the copies of Total Movie I've picked up do not have a full-length feature on them, both of the copies have interesting short films with optional commentary on them, as well as lots of different features found on different DVDs, as well as preview trailers to different films. And the print magazine is highly informative as well. To this day I've not been able to find any issue of Total Movie with the bonus DVD attached to it, just the magazine only. Not good.

However, the two issues of Movie FX have had their equal share of interesting features on them as well, including behind-the-scenes movie production secrets, press conferences, preview trailers, and links to different film production sites. On the two issues I've gotten so far, I've gotten two different trailers to Lord of the Rings, the banned WTC trailer from Spider-Man, and a video of the Spider-Man press conference, among others. The current issue I'm surprised they have not recalled because of the WTC trailer on the DVD, and it's been a full year since that trailer came out! Should they recall the issue, that will make the copies that have gone out be highly sought, I think, because of the banned trailer.

The concern I have comes in release consistency. Total Movie has touted itself as a bi-monthly magazine, yet with their production history we're lucky to get a magazine. And at that, we're lucky to even get a DVD with the magazine at that, the latest issues that have come out have just been the magazine only. I wonder if that was a change in their policy, to send the DVD out only to subscribers of the magazine.

On the other hand, Movie FX comes out quarterly and is in a large magazine-sized cardboard sleeve, with the DVD itself as the magazine. Once the cardboard sleeve gets corrupted six ways from Sunday, then the only thing to do is find a CD holder to keep the DVD intact. But a good DVD magazine like that should come out a little more often than just quarterly, in my opinion.

I guess it's all a matter of personal taste and availability of the magazine you're seeking.

What are Total Movie and Movie FX?

Is this a secret DVD collection or something?

Total Movie is a movie magazine that has a DVD bundled with every issue. Movie FX is a movie magazine on a DVD.

In my opinion, Total Movie should put the Star Wars fan film Troops on the DVD again, for those of you who missed it the first time and can't find any more copies on eBay.

Best. Issue. Ever.

"Bad droids, bad droids, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?"

"Nobody naw give you no break, the Stormtrooper give you no break, and some Jedi Master gonna give you no break, not even Darth Vader come and give you no break, hey hey ..."

"Troops is filmed on location with the men of the Imperial forces. All suspects are GUILTY, period! Otherwise, they wouldn't be suspects, would they?"

I checked Total Movie's website www.insidedvd.com to see about Species being included in the next issue. Once again, they have to make things confusing as all hell.
The banner of course, says "Species included in September issue!", but that is their only mention of it. I click on "On the DVD" at the bottom of the page, and they say that the feature film will be some movie about 8-tracks that I could give 2 shits about seeing.

I know their newest subscription offer is that they will be including a full length movie from MGM with each issue and Species was one of the titles. I wonder if they will only be sending out Species to new subscribers?

I certainly hope that that isn't the case. They've screwed their current subscribers too many times already. They shouldn't be making their newer and better offers exclusive to new subscribers only.

I really hope I'm wrong about this.

The 8 track film is to be in the August issue. You should see that by the end of July. With the magazine going monthly, Species is due in September. You should see that by the end of August. From what I hear - Original aspect ratio yes. Anamorphic no. More extras than the version out on DVD now (interviews, making of). I was told that all subscribers will get the disc with Species on it...not just new subscribers.

I'm just wondering if any other subscribers have gotten an issue past the May/June edition (w/ Piper Perabo on the cover).
I'm curious as to if something is screwy with only my subscription, or everyone is in the same position as I am.

I've got 2 issues left in my subscription.

Total Movie mag sucks really big time. They screwed their first set of subscribers by shutting down the mag after 4 issues (initial subs were for 6 issues) and not giving those folks the first 2 issues of the new mag (happened to a friend). As for the second incarnation, they suckered many in with their "40 free movie" crap, including me (only to get 10 DVD's w/4 crappy films on each). I got 3 out of my 4 issues, was promised an extra issue to compensate for my lost one (which also never came!). I believe that if you buy the mag on newsstands, there is a card you send in to get the DVD (as many folks were just sealing the DVD's out of the mag on newsstands).

Do yourself a favor and don't give these clowns any more money, I'm sure the mag will be dead again soon, due to their crappy customer service, and completely unreliable production schedule.

...yeah... I know. I hate the magazine too, and I don't have any intentions to give them anymore money. But I would like to receive the rest of what I have already payed for.

Trust me, the magazine sucks, and it seems all departments (from subscription to the people who actually write/put the magazine together) are horrible at what they do. They've pissed me off before with their shitty service. All the more reason to not let them rip me off some more.

I have had all of the same issues with Total Movie as well. I will not resubscribe.

Has anyone seen the new mag DVD Etc.?

You have to pay upfront for the subscription so I want to read it first. I don't want to get screwed again.

A used shop near me is selling several of the Total Movie discs for $5 a piece. I'll have to check them out.

I just called the customer service line, and the lady I was talking to told me that the next issue should be sent out this Friday (even though they've been advertising this issue at their website for more than a month now...).
She also confirmed that it will be a monthly thing now rather than every 2 months.

She tried plugging their new subscription deals. I interrupted and politely told her I won't be resubscribing. Then she said okay, and talked really fast finishing off what she had to say about the new deals. I guess they are required to ask for more cash when current subscribers are calling and asking where the hell their product is.
