Spider-Man Cover Prefrence

As we all pretty much know from previous threads, Columbia is pulling a rather odd stunt and releasing the widescreen and pan and scan versions of Spider-Man with different cover art. Personally, I'm moderately disappointed; I like the fullscreen cover better, but am still going to be buying the widescreen version instead if I get this one.

Which one do you prefer?

I voted fullscreen, I think that one looks a lot better.

I voted widesrcreen, and I'll tell you why:
True, full looks a little better, but with the widescreen version they actually used the movie poster...which is a rare thing that I would personally like to see more of. (too bad MGM forgets what their posters look like at all)

Yeah,, I agree. Fullscreen's picture looks a heck of a lot better, but using the movie poster is something I'd like to see done a LOT more often. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings theatrical are the only ones I can name off the top of my head that I have that used it...

Not that I'm going to buy it, but I wonder which cover image VHS has. Probably fullscreen (on the basis that it IS fullscreen, and I'd normally whine that the VHS gets something the wide DVD doesn't, but eh. I'll be getting OAR if I get any, like always with wide/full choice discs.

I really don't care. Even though I'm buying this movie blind (widescreen) I don't plan to look at the cover too often. It's the movie that I'll enjoy (I hope) more than the cover.

With that said, I voted widescreen.

I definitely like the widescreen better, because it's like a bird's eye view of spiderman, with the building panning to the bottom.
It's also better because it shows the street w/ the cars at the bottom, the fullscreen doesn't really.

I like the Full Screen version better for some reason. Well i did have to look at the posters day after day for about 2 months and never got tired of the FS one. Too bad they can't go back use the original poster that was banned with the WTC in the eyes.

I liked that poster as well. Couldn't they just remove the WTC from it?

Since it will be sandwiched sideways in-between two other DVDs in my collection, I really don't care what's on the cover.

I'll be buying the widescreen version like everyone else, but I think I like the "full-screen" cover more. I think thats the cover for the soundtrack too. Any pics. of the cover art for the "ultra limited edition" yet?

Actually...no preference. I'm getting the widescreen so whats on the cover is pointless to me.

Of course I would have prefered to see Kirsten in the wet outfit as the front picture, but for some reason I don't think we'll ever see that one.

Interesting that the "full-screen" cover art is the same as the "regular" soundtrack album, while the "widescreen" art is the same as that on the score album.

I like both about the same, and of course, I'll be buying the widescreen version. I'm just glad both of them are clearly marked "widescreen" and "full screen," as well as looking different.

Specs look pretty cool, by the way.

I'll probably get the Fullscreen edition, because the cover looks nicer and who has time to watch the movie anyway?!

The SB Deluxe is news to me as well, but I see they used the WTC poster art with the WTC removed from his eyes. Now that would've made for an awesome cover for the regular releases.

Widescreen all the way for me!

They could have easily produced a dual flipper cover label for the DVD - I believe this was done for The Royal Tennenbaums DVD - and therefore give DVD buyers the choice of choosing which cover to put on their copy of the DVD.

Where did that Superbit pic come from, cause I didn't find it on IGN. Can anyone confirm that this is coming or not? It wasn't in the press release.

While I actually like the fullscreen IMAGE better, I will be getting the OAR widescreen set by choice (and by default) as I'm going for the limited box set, which only comes with the WS edition.

Personally, I like it that they've gone with the original movie poster art, but I do like the FS art better.

Even better is the teaser art - that Superbit looks great. However, I feel it's somebody's wet dream...

For now...

I could handle pictures of the cast on the cover as long as they looked like this:

Maybe in the insert!

I prefer the full screen cover but I wouldn't even give it as a gift. Widescreen all the way!

ever since i started collecting dvds, i've been getting widescreen editions for when i purchase a nicely-sized digital t.v. in the not-so distant future. currently, i've got a 19" computer screen and t.v. set.

i know in the end, it'll be worth it.

I'm lost with all these cover arts being posted I think Gyvedgate posted where the offical ones. They are both good and I want to buy both the widescreen and the fullscreen box for them. Question:How many editions of this DVD are there gonna be? A widescreen, fullscreen and a Superbit? and a Special Collectors Edition?
My idea for the cover:
Use the SCE one, but when you pull the DVD out have the WS cover on one side (cuz it's two discs right?) and the FS cover on the other side with that (behind bulding) as the scence insert picture.
Juse my thoughts!

Someone please enlighten me on Superbit releases: have any releases to date included a second disc? On the bottom of the attached Superbit image it states: "Deluxe 2 Disc Set Includes Superbit Feature plus Special Features Disc!" There was no mention of the Gift Set coming with a Superbit disc set, just a bunch of stuff like a reprinted copy of AF#15, etc.
