SOAP - The TV Series - on DVD??
Anyone know if there are any plans in the works to get the old commedy series SOAP (1977-1981 w/ Richard Mulligan, Katherine Helmond, Billy Crystal) on DVD ? Doing net searches for the word soap is a pain

Hey, I remember that show! Funny as hell, weird too.
- A young Billy Crystal playing a gay son - That ventriloquist guy with the smart-ass dummy - Burt (Richard Mulligan) abducted by space aliens - Jessica taking up with that Columbian gangster El Puerco "You dare to call The Pig a dog?" I can't answer your question but I'd sure buy the complete series if they ever released it.

I haven't heard anything. Offhand, I'd say I'd buy it, but here's the thing: I KNOW Columbia House sells Soap videotapes, at 20 bucks a pop (4 eps per tape). Which means that if the show were released on DVD, I fear it would be CH just digitizing their videotapes and releasing them, and they'd probably charge 25-30 bucks a disc. Which means there wouldn't be any affordable per-season box sets. And then I would not buy.
