August 27th, a horror fan's dream from MGM

I'm totally excited about getting The Fog: SE , Return of the Living Dead , and The Last House on the Left from MGM. All of them have interesting extras...should be a frigging fantastic day. I'll have to start with ROTLD as I've not seen it for a while...ditto with The Fog , and I'll finally have LHOTL on a format other than VHS. I'm not sure if it's the same cut. I forget now.

I'm looking forward to this day as well. All solid releases. It's bee years since I've watched The Fog, so I'll start there, but ROTLD is one of my favorites.

I have The Fog on pre-order!

Hadn't heard about the other 2 - never saw LHOTL, sounds like a winner!

The Fog gave me the creeps when I was a kid.

I remember ROTLD was pretty good group/party movie. You can make fun of it, laugh, and get scared by the same movie.

Is The Fog worth buying blind? I've never seen it, but am a fan of Carpenter's early films.

No doubt The Last House on the Left is gonna be sweet! It should be nice and cheap too (probably around $16 CDN or less, hopefully). And how bout them extras? Commentary, making-of-doc, deleted footage, forbidden footage featurette, etc. Great value per dollar spent. Way to go MGM!

ROTL is for me. Loved that movie when it came out...just haven't seen it in years. Can't wait to pick it up though.

I only laugh because that's precisely when I turned this movie off some 17 years ago. But I plan on giving this one another try as my tastes have changed considerably. ROTLD I've yet to see. I'm super-psyched about The Fog though. Pre-1990's John Carpenter is about as good as it gets for me.

Morticia, please, please, post your thoughts after you've seen Last House on the Left. I ask only because your cheerful enthusiasm -- "Sounds like a winner!" -- is so directly opposite to the stark, depressing, queasy experience that is Craven's film. Imagine a grainy 1972 snuff movie scored to banjo music, and that still doesn't begin to describe what you're in for.

Lex M -- I stand by my statement, and will indeed let you know how much I enjoy this after I view it....mmmm, banjo music,

Last House rules & is a great dark comedy in my opinion!

Yes it's disturbing, brutal & unpleasent....but it's also a very entertaining wild laced with dark humor throughout film experiance. Only the rape/murder sequence is were the film is played seriously...the rest before & after has a widely varying change in tones from serious to darkly comic.

Bet you never thought you'd hear someone mention the film as being funny?

The other releases i'm looking forward to as well & ca'nt wait. Will be great to see The Fog in widescreen finnaly, have'nt seen that in years & it scared the crap out of me as a kid!
