boo to snap case Don't you hate it when something you want to get for your birthday comes out the day AFTER your birthday? Oh well, I'll have to ask someone to buy a pre-order of it for me

One of this years best movies! I can't wait to get the DVD and see it again.

How does it compare to the original version?

Has anyone seen both -- I've been thinking about picking up that one's Criterion version blind.

The weird thing is they lightened up the box art for some reason so you can make out the faces better I like the darker poster better.

POSTER:

I think the DVD cover just makes Pacino look more cool! I will pick up this amazing thriller!

The faces are definitely more identifiable on the DVD case, which makes sense. I'm glad they didn't just sell out and use big colorful heads on front.

I prefer the poster art; Robin W. has a sly look to him, which is lost when his mug is shown in full (more of an apathetic look, IMO). For the right price, I'll check out the film.

Tho I enjoyed the movie well enough in the theater, I couldn't imagine owning it and watching it over and over. It is a rather boring movie from that standpoint.

Haven't these "snapper" studios realized yet that the public prefers keep cases?

The reason they lightened the faces on the dvd case, is because the studios belief, that a movie won't sell if you cant see the actors faces. I know I wouldn't have bought it if it was the same cover as the poster becuase even though is says Al Pacino, Robin Williams in big red letters at the top pf the case, without see all of their faces, I wouldn't have known who was in the movie.

If you want a keep case that badly go buy one, scan the art yourself (or wait for it to appear on DVDCoverArt.com) and make your own keepcase version.

The original Insomnia is so much better. It's got a harder edge, and the story is almost shot for shot.

Try it.
