Wave Twisters ft. DJ Qbert - anyone seen it?

I just saw this DVD and was wondering if you've seen it and your thoughts about it. Me? Musically and visually cool, but not really my cup o' tea. Still that soundtrack would be nice background at a party. (Esp. if the herbs are around I'd think). LAte.

My friend owns this DVD and says it is quite good. I plan on borrowing it some time as nothing beats a nice session of turntablism! I know that doesn't help much but, my friend likes it....

Marq, I agree with your friend. This disc kicks some serious ass!

BsK, QBert's Wave Twister album alone is a classic. But seeing his scratches and beats explicitly and accurately expressed in visual form on this DVD is nuts! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is one of the first films of itz kind (animated hip-hop/turntablism). This isn't just your average cartoon or music video. The animations are definitely ground breaking (ranging from cell animation to live action to photo collages and more), and when combined with the legendary turntable skills of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz (QBert, YogaFrog, D-Styles, DJ Flare, Mix Master Mike, etc.), it makes for an audio-visual hip hop experience unlike any other. Not to mention there is an actual plot throughout this entire animated hip hop film that is alot of fun to follow. GREAT to play at parties! (esp. since the beats are blaring in 5.1 Dolby Digital).

Oh yeah, and the extras are also sweet. Aside from the commentary, deleted scenes and animation tests, I personally enjoyed the live footage of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz doing their thing on the wheels of steel and being able to toggle between 5 different viewing angles throughout, making my own music video in the process (ha). And if you're an Atari/Intellivision/ColecoVision nostalgist, you will really dig the cover of the DVD. Again, whether you are a hip hop fan or not (I obviously am), DJ QBert's Wave Twisters is highly recommended.

I didnt have time to take a look at the extras and wish that I had. I am sure I would have dug the live footage since my favorite part of the film is where they use the one and two's as lasers and take apart that mummy.

I have this DVD and, although it craps out on me when I try to watch the supplements, I really love it. My favorite parts are the above mentioned turntable mummy battle and the dentist exam scenes. Really bizarre stuff. Now all we need is the movie Scratch on DVD!

I haven't seen the DVD, but we have it at work and my boss said it was pretty good.

Sidebar for Q-Bert fans... although Wave Twisters is a cool album, you should seek out his Japanese release Demolition Pumpkin Squeeze Musik... it's awesome.
