Old dog vs New dog

I can’t decide whether to get the older version of Reservoir Dogs or the new re-mastered one. I guess it comes down to the picture quality of the two movies. I know that the newer version has a ton of extras but I’m not so sure that I’m ready to sacrifice that for picture quality.

I’ve seen side-by-side screen shots of the two movies and people aren’t kidding when they say that the video quality on the re-mastered one is washed out. It’s really bad.

I rarely watch extras or commentaries more then once on a movie so once I watch the extras on RD then that will most likely be the last time. Then I’d be stuck with a great movie with a really bad transfer. I’m leaning hard towards the old version even though I'd like to have the newer one.

I'd say get them both. If you can find the bare-bones disc, it probably won't be that expensive. I have an SVCD of the old DVD because I could never find it. So I don't feel bad about getting the double disc today. I can't wait for the extras!

If you love the film, get the bare bones with the good transfer. How often would you be watching the extras?

Beside, isn't the point is to get the movie?

Well that's what I would do if I had to decide.

godmoney made a good point, get both. With certain movies, I don't mind getting two if there's a good reason for it and it sounds like you really like this film so why the heck not?!!!

I am doing that with Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.

I don't know anything about reselling or trade but that's another option, if you decide to get rid of one of them.

Goodluck Frankie!

Yeah Prancer, I'm doing that with LOTR too. From what I hear, when you buy the Extended version, you get a $10.00 off coupon if you buy both, which is a cool little thing to do.

With Reservoir Dogs, I'm sure you can even find the older DVD used or something like that, so if money is the issue, even that can't stop ya
