How many Mr. Browns were you able to buy?
So, people, how many were you allowed to buy of the Mr. Brown reservoir dogs??
I went to 3 different places. All sold out. Or were they kept in the back storage room for themselves?? I saw no one buying the other copies. Maybe we dvdfile user have a HUGE pull around the states eh? Now no one is going to buy them because of the piss-poor transfers. Peace out I'm sure sometime this week I'll get around to buying one of the other copies just for the extras alone (i'll be keeping my bare-bones version). Just can't decide which cover I want. So I ask you guys. Which one you think I should pick up?? |

Please see this thread:
http://www.dvdfile.com/interactive/f...highlight=dogs For the cover I want. And there is no way I am buying four copies just to have 4 different covers. No way. -Flash

Best buy had 9 of them when they opened according to the sales drones, and they were gone right away. Apparently people were waiting for them to open just to get the Mr. Browns.
So I'm in line to buy a Mr. Blonde and I decided to put it back on the shelf and take my chances at Costco. So I go there, and booya! They have a few Mr. Browns there. I had to pay $17.49, but I'd rather have the Mr. Brown. |

I went to my local Best buy about 3 hours after they opened. They have the dvds for it in three separate areas (new releases section, action section, and end of the aisle section all to themselves). After looking through the first 2 sections, the end of the aisle stand had 5 Mr. Brown's in it. Now there's only four left.

My Best Buy had none, Circuit City had about 20, and had only 3 pink, 2 white, and 3 blond, no orange. Media Play didn't have any RD. I got Mr. Pink, but for some reason I want to get them all just for the 8 page booklets, but I have to resist, so I am staying out of the stores until next Tuesday

I picked up Mr. Brown yesterday at a Coconuts near my office in Philly. They only had 2. The only difference I can see is that there is a Tarantino autograph in gold color on the Mr. Brown cover. I am sure it is not real.

At Best Buy, in the action section, they had a stack for each cover. Mr. Brown's stack was empty.
On a table they had right near the DVD section, were stacks of RD DVDs, and once again, Mr. Brown's stack looked to be empty. In the new release section, all that I saw was Mr. Pink, but I didn't dig through it or anything, so Mr. Pink could have just been in the front of each shelf and have whatever else behind them. So I didn't see any Mr. Brown covers today at all. But that's cool, because I was there for my Buscemi cover (of which, as I said, they had plenty of). ![]() |

Went to Best Buy where they had NO Browns, and mainly Pink/Orange/Whites. There were hardly any Blondes, which is the one I got. I wanted Brown, but Blonde was my second choice. I didn't really care way too much about the cover, I wanted the discs
I also bought The Fog blind. I used my $5.00 off card after my Reservoir Dogs purchase and got it for $10.00. w00t! |

I got to best buy early. As I finished parking, they were just opening the doors (people were already waiting outside). I went straight for the DVDS they had a shitload of Mr.Pink, and about the same amount of the other ones, except for Mr.Brown. I took the last one.

As much as I despise my job, it does have its advantages. I work at Borders, so I was able to put my copy of Mr. Brown aside on Saturday. I couldn't buy it until today, but at least I didn't have to fight anyone for it. The only bad thing was that the protective tape stuck to the cover and it tore a little when I opened it.

I went to the Virgin Megastore in Chicago on a search for the Cat People DVD and while they had not a single copy of that film, they must have had at least 40-50 Mr. Brown covers and a like number of the other ones. Didn't pick one up because the cover doesn't make that much of a difference and the deal at Best Buy is better
Personally, I think this whole limited edition thing is a scam so that Tarantino can brag that his face was the one the people wanted BTW-if anyone saw Cat People at Best Buy, what is the damage price-wise? |

And if I may be so bold as to ask, why ARE people buying multiple copies of the SAME cover? I can't even see buying several different covers, as this is so clearly a scam aimed at hardcore DVD fans who have to have EVERYTHING. I see there's even a 4-pack on sale of the four non-Brown covers -- WHO would buy such a thing? It's so clearly a condescending marketing ploy, yet people are falling for it. The movie and features are the same on each, no? And by all accounts, the transfer is a disappointment and the special features are a tad underwhelming, so what gives? For those who are "stocking up" on Browns, is it so you can sell them on EBay or a trading site? If so, what sort of profit are you anticipating? Because these things aren't THAT rare -- the Virgin Megastore in Hollywood probably has 80 copies of the Mr. Brown case. Given the harsh criticism of this release, Artisan will probably triple-dip it again in 3 or 4 years, so who's gonna want a shoddy Mr. Brown case then? I |

I got my Reservior Dogs at Best Buy. Costco was $17.49, and Best Buy was $15.99, then minus the $5 buck gift card.
Costco had about 50 of each and it didn't look like more than 10 grand total had been picked up by about 3:00 pm. Best Buy they were moving pretty well. Browns were sold out, and they were low on Yellow and White. There was a fair amount of Pinks and a whole shitload of Orange. So you know what I did? I got Orange, just to be different. The Brown was rumored to have extra content. I don't believe that, because if that was the case, no other colors would sell, eveyone would want the Browns only. The booklet you get corresponds to the color of the cover. The photos in the booklet are mostly of the character color you bought. The actual DVD cover is the same for all disks, it has all four Dogs, excluding Brown. That help? -Flash

I went to Target at 8am yesterday and they were just stocking it. The boxes as shipped to Target were equal size with an equal number of Dogs...one color per box...I picked Brown cause I dug the gold embossed sig and it just made sense to me...but he wasn't stocked in any less quantity than the others.

I decided to wait until after work to pick up RD. I knew the Brown covers would pretty much disappear at the first crack of the sliding doors, but what I didn't expect to find at day's end were ~50 copies of Mr. Pink and one Mr.Orange left. I wanted the Buscemi cover anyway (that pink spine really stands out on my shelf
), but it would be nice if I had some other options, just in case.I know BB lists the price at $15.99 (plus $5 gift card), but was there anyone who's purchase rang up at $10.99 (plus $5 gift card)? Mine did.

BTW, my purchase also rang up at $10.99 with the $5 gift card seperate. I asked about it and the guy said that's just how they were supposed to do it. I suppose that means if I have to return it I'll only end up getting $10.99 back. Not quite the way I expected them to do it based on the ad, but I guess it keeps them from getting ripped off. |

There's only one. The ultimate in cool and tough.
Mr Harvey Kitel aka Mr White. I couldn't stand to look at that ugly looking grin from Mr Brown (QT) for the next 5 years.

That's how mine rung up at Best Buy too. The guy at the register didn't realize that it was correct and was trying to make the gift card show up as free. He wasn't able to do it, but if he did, I would have gotten the movie and the gift card for 10.99 - I knew what was going on, but I let him try anyway. Oh well.
And I got Mr. White...the one I wanted. Not that I have a huge preference, but for me, it was between white and orange, although I wouldn't have minded blonde (except the blinding yellow is not my first choice). They had all of them at 10:30a.
