Just blind bought Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs

I'm really anxious to see these for the first time. Which one should I watch first?

Watch Reservoir Dogs first as there is some dialogue that references characters in Pulp Fiction. And you save the best for last with Pulp Fiction. Enjoy

Some of the best '90's cinema had to offer.

Speaking of references to Pulp Fiction, it's interesting that in one of the deleted scenes on Reservoir Dogs, Nice Guy Eddie says that he called a nurse named Bonnie to come and take care of Mr. Orange. He refers to it at one point as "the Bonnie situation".

Which as we all know (apart from Billiam86 ) is one of the segments in Pulp Fiction, where Bonnie the nurse actually shows up.

Also, I think we should all thank Tarantino for using that one take of the ear scene. Because the two deleted ones are just plain disturbing. (The ear looks fake, but still...)

Yeah, definetly watch Reservoir Dogs first. It's a classic. Pulp Fiction is probably Tarantino's best, but RD is still awesome
nontheless, probably my favorite.

I agree Porkchop, the final cut was the best of the three, although I would of preferred the action figure scene in the movie over all three

I noticed another connection finally. When Joe is taking to Mr. White he asks him about Alabama, which is probably the same character from True Romance.

A couple more:

Mr. Blonde's name is Vic Vega. Could he be Vincent Vega's brother?

There is reference to Marsellus Spivey in relation to the diamonds. May be an alias for Marsellus Wallace. That could possibly explain the shining contents of the briefcase (the diamonds).

I noticed the Vic Vega / Vicent Vega reference too...I don't know if Tarantino is actually connecting his movies in the same world, or if he's just including easter eggs for fans like us to notice.

Vic Vega and Vincent Vega are supposed to be brothers. Tarantino had been rolling around the idea to make the movie 'The Vega Brothers'. Of course, I'll research to back up my statement. To be continued...

A warning to anyone buying Reservoir Dogs blind...

Just pop the movie in and watch - don't read anything printed on the packaging!

I don't know what all the covers say, but I bought the Mr. Blond edition which contains a major spoiler inside the outer cover.

I'd be furious if I had never seen the film before!
This is definitely a film in which a first viewing benefits from minimal advance information regarding the plot.

Anyway, I hope I was able to save a few Reservoir Dogs newbies...

I bought the Mr. Pink cover and it basically gives away the end of the movie on the inside flap. Geez, I guess they think that people who buy DVDs have all already seen the movie...

Possible Spoiler:

one more I found.... How about that scene where Steve Bushimie (sp I know too lazy yo look it up) says he doesn't tip waitresses... In Pulp Fiction he is the waiter in that restraunt...

That's right he plays the waiter who looks like Buddy Holly. Good one.

freakjae, what a cool find. Thanks for the info

As for the cover, it does contain a major spoiler which I thought was a bad marketing idea. People who blind buy the movie get it ruined for them right away.

The Reservoir Dogs action figures do that too, on the back of the card they show the characters, and give complete bios, if you catch my drift.

Pretty stupid. I don't get why they do that.

Thanks freakjae!!

Anybody notice anything like that in Jackie Brown?

As for the packaging, that was totally dumb on the part of Artisan. I think the packaging is cool apart from that. I love the picture on the back with the cast.

Spoilers on the cover/in the jacket

I agree that generally, it's a bad idea for companies to include spoilers on the covers and in the menus. In fairness to Artisan, however, this is a Tenth Anniversarry Special Edition, so it was arguably reasonable to presume that the overwhelming majority of people purchasing the title are already fans of the movie. As an earlier version of Dogs has been on dvd since the formats early days, those new to it have had plenty of opportunities to purchase or rent it, at least as far as Artisan is probably concerned.

I still think studios should try and be careful about spoilers, but I can understand why Artisan apparently designed this set with fans of the movie in mind.

I'll let it slip this time, but next time, Artisan is toast! :p

Well 3D, what about the action figures? They do the same thing. Anyone who picks one up and looks on the back gets it ruined for them too.

Before I become the official dvdfile proponent for spoiling movies on dvd covers, let me clarify: I do not think that it's a good idea to include spoilers on the box, in the jacket, etc. I was merely playing devils advocate and offering a possible explanation from Artisan's point of view in the case of a re-released anniversary edition.

Yes Tarantino has his own movie universe, two actually. Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and True Romance are in the same universe. Dusk till dawn is in his other universe, which I think Kill Bill or either Glorious Bastards will be in too(check aintitcoolnews to see which one the two new pictures will be in) The Vega brothers are in fact brothers and every reference has a connection with other characters, except for Steve Buscemi's two characters in Pulp and Dogs, they are different, which you should probably know why, if you've seen Reservoir Dogs. The only character who can go between each Tarantino universe is the Mr. Wolf character. You can check aintitcoolnews for the interview with Tarantino, it's been awhile though since they posted it, it was back when QT fest 5 was going on.

Also one poster asked about Jackie Brown being in the Tarantino universe and having connections with other characters? No, Jackie Brown is in the Elmore Leonard universe. If you want to know more about some of the Jackie Brown characters, read "The Switch" by Elmore Leonard, tells how Sam Jackson's and Deniro's characters meet for the first time. Also watch or read Out of Sight, because Micheal Keaton's character makes a brief cameo(at least in the movie, I haven't read that book yet).

Hope this info has been helpful

When I watched Reservoir Dogs the other night, I noticed another possible connection in this vast Tarantino universe (maybe). When Vic Vega is talking to Joe in his office, he says his parole officer is Seymour Scagnetti. Any relation to Detective Jack Scagnetti (Tom Sizemore) of Natural Born Killers fame? (which, we all know, is written by Tarantino) Or maybe Seymour IS Jack, using his formal name? Or maybe itz just a coincidence? Whatever it is, this is one cool cinematic universe.
