Anyone seen The Salton Sea and is it worth it?
Hi all,
Have only seen the trailer for Salton Sea and it looks pretty cool. Anyone seen the film or the DVD? Is it worth a blind buy? What films is it comparable to? And where is the cheapest find for it (outside of Ebay). Thanks! |

I loved the Salton Sea. It's hard to compare it to something. If I were to compare (in my eyes) it would have to be to a David Fincher or Darren Aronofsky film. It's not quite as artsy, but the mood is similar. Val Kilmer redeems himself in this, he really does. Vincent D'Onofrio is awesome, too.
I bought the DVD yesterday, and while the extras are a little short, I was overly impressed. It was good seeing the movie in such good quality. At Circuit City, where I went, they had one copy left in the back, they were sold out! Pretty good demand for a indie film. Circuit City has it the cheapest at $15.99. Call me a sucker, but it's one of my favorite films this year. |

Thanks for the tips gang. I have a circuit City about 5 blocks from me so will check it out tomorrow. Best deal so far has been Walmart at $19.83 (weird price). I like Kilmer, and the trailer makes this one look pretty wild. Will grab it with my Outer Limits DVD tomorrow.

A stylish neo-noir that's surprisingly funny, but sadly runs out of ideas after 75 minutes. The last 20 minutes are very been-there-done that, and ruin a perfectly good genre piece. The movie is worth seeing for that scene with Glenn Plummer though.
