I believe they are now not being produced... just the single disc...

Feel free to correct me on this tho, as I'm not sure... (It might just be Fox doing this with Fight Club, Close Encounters, and Rocky Horor...)

Buy them!

Buy them now!!

When they dissapear, we will only be left with the one disc non-SEs. I have the LOA disc - amazing - but have yet to pick up BOTRK.

I might just do that this w/end.

I have The Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence Limited Editions and they are worth every penny. In some ways I like the Bridge set even better than Lawrence. The documentary (about 70 minutes long) is solid and interesting, and some of the old featurettes are funny (especially the one where the narrator tells you "how to analyze a film"...this is like the "educational" films they used to submit you to in high school).

And the video and audio are the best I"ve seen/heard for a movie 45 years old.

Don't miss them...and Close Encounters (also a Columbia title, not Fox by the way) is also worth getting before the two-disc version disappears.

The bridge is a set I have yet to buy, one of those I see all the time and want, but I never buy I didn't know they were OOP, maybe i should buy it. As with Lawrence, I have had this disc since release I cannot find a reason not to own it...

And all copies of the LAWRENCE... 2-disc set come in a fabric-like slipcase, or was it only a limited availability packaging?

I mean, if I order it now from Amazon, will I get that case, or a plain double amaray keep-case?

Thanx!

I have only seen the 2-disc Lawrence in the fabric-covered case, no other packaging. Probably the nicest packaging of any DVD I have.

I've got both. Bridge on the River Kwai is the better disc overall. Lawrence had some problems with the transfer and other things (do a search on HTF to find out the specifics) but unless you have the laser it's the best presentation you're going to get at home. Hopefully they'll revisit it in the future in a Superbit edition.

Both are limited but only now are their numbers running low. Bridge originally came in a case similar to Lawrence (sans the fabric) but was later replaced with a dual alpha gladiator style case. If you can find the original packaging don't hesitate to pick it up but right now I'd reccomend purchasing the 2 disc if you can find it.

**spoiler**
have you noticed at the scene where you first see the long shot of the mothership turning over the picture shakes slightly back and forth? this ruined the dvd viewing for me.
