Films that you didn't like at the cinema, but love on DVD

I didn't think much of High Fidelity at the cinema, but after watching it round my friends house (after a good boozing session), i fell in love with the film and is now one of my fav films.

Anyone else hate a film at the flicks, but loved it on DVD ?

That happened to me with Tin Cup.

Also, I liked A.I. in the theater, but it took me forever to buy because I didn't love it . When I finally watched it on DVD I was glad I bought, I really liked it this time.

I really liked final fantasy, but after getting the DVD I love the film.

I am sure that there are others, but that one jumps out at me.

I'll second Blade II. I liked it a lot when I saw it in theaters, but for some reason I thought the quick cuts in the action scenes just made it too hard to follow and it kind of took me out of the movie, but now that I can watch it on my own screen and really see what's going on it has easily become one of my all time favorite action films.

For me, it usually works the opposite way... I'll love a movie in theatres, and then buy the DVD, and not think quite as much of it...

I haven't seen any of the BTTF films for a LOOOOOOOONG time and I used to think of them as "just OK", but having just recently watched the first one (courtesy of it's region 4/2 release) I'd forgotton how entertaining this film is... easily one of the classics (the fact that Star Wars is one of my my fave films AND Van Halen (Roth era) are my my fave band ever)the film has one of the BEST scenes EVER for me!

The above comments relate to the first only, I have yet to revisit 2 & 3...

When I first saw The Fifth Element in at the cinema, I hated it. I thought it was obnoxious but my friend loved it instantly. We watched it together again when he got the DVD and I finally saw what he enjoyed and now I love it.

Same with Starship Trooper. I was bored at the theatre but watching it at home was awesome! One of my favorite.

Dracula - Gary Oldman Wynona Ryder Anthony Hopkins Bill Campbell Cary Elwes. I was bored with this film at the cinema but quite enjoy it at home. Especially the scene when Wynona is supposed to be dead and she blinks.teeheehee. She keeps getting caught!

I think there are a few more but can't think right now.

The Cable Guy! I can't figure out why I didn't love it first time around. Well, maybe I was expecting Dumb and Dumber and it overshot its mark.

The first time I saw Star Wars: Episode 1 in the theatre (midnight opening day) I hated it, thought it was total crap. After getting it on DVD for whatever reason, I have slowly accepted it as DECENT, but still not good.

Same goes for The Mummy which I thought sucked, but after getting the collectors edition cheap, I actually enjoyed it. I think when I saw it the first time I expected a horror movie, and now I can accept it as an action/comedy.

One blaring example of the opposite would be ID4: Independance Day. I liked this movie in the theatre like 5 years ago, but after buying the 5-Star edition, I discovered that this movie is fuciking horrible.
