Grave of the Fireflies Coll. Ed. available now?!

Hey all, I work at Media Play in Denver just wanted to let those interested know that the Collector's Series of Grave of the Fireflies can be purchased. I picked up my copy today (we only had one), and according to what I've been able to find out, it has a soft street date. If this is something you want then I would suggest checking out your local DVD store, wherever you buy them (I'm not trying to push MP or anything). Heads up for those interested.

Thanks for the heads up! There's no Media Play in my area but I'll hit my usual places today.

MoonSka0, what is this disc like? How is the transfer? Is it anamorphic? Any extras?

I'm just curious because there doesn't seem to be any technical specs anywhere I've looked. I'm picking it up on tuesday if I can in any case, but I just want to know beforehand if it's decent (not the movie.. I know it's a classic.. just the package)

I must ask, what the hell is with the cover art of the new edition??? The old edition, despite the cheesy orange "anime DVD" bar, still has better cover art than this version.

Thanx,
Brook

I picked it up at Best Buy on Saturday for $19.99. BB is pretty lax about street dates regarding anime titles. I prefered the older cover too (sans the "ANIME DVD" bar) .

I just got this movie over the weekend. I had seen it on VHS before but this new version is incredible. It made me boo-hoo twice. If you have any interest at all in animation you should get this great movie.:p

It's a beautifully-made film and it got me in a few parts too.

Also, anyone have a pic of what the original cover art looked like?

Here's the old one. Neither is great but I like the new one better.

I like the new one, too; it doesn't have that annoying bar that the old release had.
