Hi-Res DTS

Saw this in one of my e-mail newsletters. From http://www.prosoundnews.com/stories/...r/1002.5.shtml

DTS to Release First Major DVD-Video Title with High-Res Audio

Agoura Hills, CA (October 2, 2002)-DTS plans to release Queen's Greatest Video Hits 1, which the company says will be the first major DVD-Video available worldwide to feature a DTS 96/24 high-resolution soundtrack.

Developed by Queen Productions, Ltd. and EMI, Queen's Greatest Video Hits 1 features 16 of the band's most celebrated videos including "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Somebody to Love," and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." The title is scheduled for release in the United Kingdom on October 7 and in the United States on October 14.

The release of Queen's Greatest Video Hits 1 follows the April 2002 release of the DVD-Audio version of Queen's 1975 classic, A Night at the Opera (DTS Entertainment). Already the best-selling DVD-Audio title to date, A Night at the Opera has also received several industry awards, including the 2002 Best DVD-Audio Disc.

They're going to run out of room on the disc with that audio track. Let's hope they don't compromise the video too much for the higher-res audio.

I'll all for it though - throw those silly extras on a second disc.

I really dont think that is about disc space, it is but...
The Twin Peaks First Season DVD Box Set has an even higher image bitrate than Superbit discs, DD, audio commentaries and a FULL BITRATE DTS track and other extras.

If only DTS tracks this time where full bit rate and 96/24 i guess that anyone with a DTS receiver and HT will be deaf.

I have no idea what this sentence is trying to say. Please explain with better English.

DTS 24/96 is only 1536kbps, and plenty of full length feature films have been encoded at this bitrate, with excellent video quality.
