Firefox: Your first impressions?

I haven't seen it yet, but I've seen some screen shots and the video looks great.

Your opinions?

Peace.....

Am I the only one who finds amusement in someone asking for "first impressions" of a 20-year-old movie?

I think so because one could have a "first impression" of a less than 20 year old anamorphic widescreen video transfer and a less than 20 year old DD 5.1 audio transfer of a 20 year old movie......

Peace......

I saw this movie in theaters with my old man when I was a little kid. Loved it then and still think its one of the better cold war thrillers (if just a bit improbable). How's that for a first impression?

Let me know but I'll probably stick with the washed out LD.

Haven't seen the DVD yet..grr, it's out???

This move was under-rated in a very big way, imo. Most people I've talked to are like, "oh Firefox...with the plane. I slept through most of it until it got good at the end."

You haven't seen it so I won't spoil any of it for ya. I hadn't seen this movie in almost 10 years (28 now) and decided to watch it again on tv when it came on. I was curious to see if growing up a bit would change my opinion of it.

It was even better than I remembered. No over-the-top action scenes that are all the rage now, no catchy one-liners, no explosions 3 stories high. This is a suspense-filled drama that slowly builds up through the entire film, and Eastwood sucks you right in. Yes, it may seem "slow" to those with short attention spans because there's a lot of dialogue, but it's damn good dialogue! And it only serves to make the finale that much better after so much build up. Some of the special effects are obviously dated, but it's still well done.

I love modern action movies with all their style and billion dollar effects, and this movie, without a doubt, could easily have been made that way. Instead they do it right. Make sure there aren't going to be any interrupions so you focus all your attention on the movie, and go see it

Damn I want this movie! It was one of my favorites as a kid.. Best Buy didn't get it on release day, so I'm waiting to get to Wherehouse so I can get an employee discount from a friend..

As I said, I found Firefox yesterday. Best Buy is slow-boating them in, instead of paying extra for overnight drop-shipments. So be patient and check back is my advice.

Haven't watched it yet, just the trailer. I'd never seen the trailer before. I decided it was kinda lame. It's hard to judge the impact of a trailer long AFTER you've seen and fell in love with a film. But I think it wouldn't have made me want to see this feature. AND it gives away too many plot points. I'm glad the trailer was included, though...I'll look it over again later and critique it more thoroughly. I'm more interested in finding time to watch the actual movie tonight. IF I don't have to pull overtime. Grrr...
