your favorite japanese horror flick

hey,

I saw some japanese horror flick but wanted to know what are your favorites ? I'm sure Lord Crumb will have some good advice, as "The Eye" seems to be the next flick to see... :-)

(I saw : Ring, Kairo (aka Pulse), Cure, Audition)

let's see what's in the shelves...

The Eye is actually Chinese film.

But I hear Dark Water is a pretty good Japanese horror/thriller flick. By the same director who did The Ring.

and MEMENTO MORI is suppose to be a good thriller as well. It got some buzz when it came out awhile ago. Something about lesbo japanese school girls SCARY!!!!!! No, it really is suppose to be "disturbing" type of film.

Hmmmm...

Depends on what you want. Japanese horror can be really, really unnerving, and it really emphasizes what a fundamentally different culture Japan is from our own.

I highly recommend "Perfect Blue", "Blind Beast" and "Tetsuo: the Iron Man." "Tetsuo" is a nightmare on film, "Blind Beast" is a very creepy and bleak thriller, and "Perfect Blue" is just great, it has some minor flaws but it's definitely a well-designed and atmospheric thriller. Of course, you will be completely unable to listen to pop music after it...
