Alliance Atlantis Has Screwed Up Again!

After praising Alliance Atlantis for not screwing up Canada's version of A Hard Day's Night SE, they've annoyed me again. Last Tuesday AA released the uncut version of Y Tu Mama Tambien on DVD (since when does AA release MGM titles?) and there's no commentary, featurette or deleted scenes! Isn't the MGM version supposed to have all of these features? There's nothing in the packaging that indicates supplementary material, so I held off buying this wonderful film.

Has any Canadian bought the AA disc and is it true there is no extra material? (lousy f***ing AA bastards!)

Their Hard Day's Night DVD smokes ass because the packaging is complete shit. The worst thing is, Alliance used to be good, giving us a cooler Trainspotting, and, at the time, a better Pulp Fiction.

I live in Canada and rented a copy of the Unrated 'Y Tu Mama Tambien' DVD about a week ago. No supplements, though I never noticed if it was MGM or Alliance.

The Canadian You Can Count on Me DVD is also empty, as opposed to the American/Paramount version that has a commentary and other stuff. That bummed me out as well.

Oh, fuck no....

That is shit. Just when I thought MGM was safe from Alliance Atlantis' bullshit ways... Y Tu Mama was a definite purchase for me too on Tuesday (did not realize it came out a week early - a miracle for AA- here in Canada), and I'm really getting sick of importing my DVDs from the US at a hefty price to have to avoid AA's nonsense in Canada. What exactly IS the point of devoiding a DVD of it's extras which were already produced for the US release ???? DAMMIT this pisses me off. Easily my biggest pet peeve going is how Alliance Atlantis is seeemingly going out of their way these days to piss of the Canadian DVD buying community.

Geez... I really figured MGM had their own way in this country, as no other MGM release has been affected by AA's delayed releasing or bilingual cover butchering.... until now I guess with this deleting of supplements.

Side note... I thought the Canadian (i.e. AA) release of A Hard Day's Night was delayed by a week, and it DOES have horrid and flimsy bilingual packaging... hardly an improveent over their recent habits.

When I heard Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction were getting the Alliance Atlantis "demotion", it was the last straw for me. I bought those from the states and have done the same with every title of interest that has gotten a late/ bilingual release here in Canada since. It's getting to be expensive and a big pain in the ass. I'm glad I only have 3 DVDs right now with bilingual cover art/ spines (Vanilla Sky, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me), as I've boycotted them since.

This is very bad news, but thanks for the heads-up retroboy. Lousy fucking AA bastards indeed....
