Re: 007 Box Set.What would you do?

I have it preordered with Amazon.com & it hasn't shipped yet. I got it for $76.22 with the super saver shipping & a $5 coupon. Circuit City in their ad has it for $77.99 + 7% tax. It'll cost $7.22 more at CC BUT it won't arrive until Oct. 30-Nov 5 from Amazon & CC is giving away a bonus disc with over 40 minutes of Bond Action Footage. There is also the advantage if any disc has a problem not having to send it back to Amazon. I'm strongly leaning to cancelling my online order. Would you buy it locally to get it right away, get the bonus disc & be able to make a local return if there are any problems?

Yes.

And try and get me that extra bonus disc. We won't get that in the UK.

I have a feeling they are going to be very stingy with those bonus dvds (limited to supplies on hand so I'll be there when the store opens). I'd get one for ya if I could.
I wish we had a Best Buy in my little town so I could get them to price match (that would save $3). They will be price matching KMart's $14.95 ET & Mr.Deeds though.

Does Best Buy price match? I only knew about Circuit City price match...

Thanks for the idea though -- I just printed out the KMart E.T. ad and I plan to take it to Circuit City for the price match!

---- Sorry; now I get it. I just re-read your post. You wish you had a Best Buy so that Circuit City would have to match the Best Buy price! -- Anyway thanks for the idea I've never used the Circuit City price match.

I was a little ambiguous in my post. You did figure it out though. If I get a nice salesperson at CC as I have occasionally in the past perhaps they will bring up the BB ad online & match it. They did do it once before even though the closest BB's are about 35-40 miles away.

Let me know if anyone hears of these bonus discs going anywhere online (ebay, etc)...

Sounds like a good extra. Let me know what's on it!

What's on the bonus disc? I went to all the trouble to get these a few years ago and there weren't any bonus discs in those sets...?????

Moogle. You definitely wouldn't have gotten this disc with the original boxes (or anywhere now except CC). The ad says "Circuit City Exclusive: bonus disc with over 40 minutes of Bond action footage. In-store only. While supplies last."

40 minutes of Bond action footage? Like an Ultimate Fights type collage? That seems strange. Whenever someone sees this let me know exactly what's on it please. Need to know if I need to find one...

Best Buy also reports to be giving away a bonus disc with the Bond set:
" .. features The Gadgets Of James Bond and Q's Lab featurettes, Die Another Day theatrical trailer, 007 Nightfire video game trailer and more "

Same disc?

Hmmm... new featurettes? Seems like all that ground was covered on the individual releases. I bet it's all promotional material for Die Another Day, which I don't need and will eventually be on the DAD DVD.

Media Play (sam goodie, on cue, etc.) also says they have it. In my adds, both Media Play and CC both say that it is a cd-rom, and BB says it is a DVD. I'm thinking that it is all stuff that is all ready on the SE discs and the DAD stuff will eventually be on the disc when it comes out. I don't think that it is really a big deal (of course, I may also be just trying to convince myself of this since I all ready own them all... )

As far as I can tell, everyone is saying that it is an exclusive; I guess we will find out on Tuesday.

The disc from Media Play, SUncoast and Best Buy will be the same disc because they are all the same company? But the CC disc will most likely be different. But they are both dvd-rom's

The CC ad says it is a 40+ minute disc of Bond Action Footage. I don't think it is a dvd-rom but will let ya know when I get it (hope it's not because it'd be of no use to me). CC does have a different offer with any individual Bond disc sale "James Bond Night Fire" demo for PC.

Talk about a limited edition.

I'm glad I went to CC when they opened. They tried to pass of the sampler that comes with the purchase of any individual title. After 20 minutes of looking around & copying my receipt so that they could give me a copy when they got them in the clerk found ONE box with it sealed inside the plastic outside of the box. It is nice. 3-5 minutes of footage from 11 movies. Die Another Day trailer and a Bond DVD trailer.

Since I cancelled out my Amazon preorder to get 007 Box at CC (with the bonus disc & price matched BB for $74.99) I have a question. Amazon has advertised a ticket for Die Another Day in the box set & I had assumed that it was like the Pixar 3 pack (that had the ticket for Monsters Inc.) or Santa Clause SE (which has a ticket for SC2). Mine didn't have one so was it an Amazon exclusive?

I picked up my collection at Best Buy and got the gadgets and upcoming Bond stuff trailers. Can't say that I've watched it yet though. At $74.99, best price I've seen on the set so far...haven't checked out the NA DVD site or any of the others yet, though. Probably won't now that I already have it.

This might be just me, but I don't think the bonus DVD is THAT big of a deal if it's predominately some of the "greatest" stunt sequences from Bond movies. I'd rather watch the movies. I just seem to care a whole lot less when seeing a scene for a movie-ANY movie-out of context.

Does the bonus disc only come with purchase of the box set, or the purchase of ANY Bond DVD? I can understand giving it away with an individual disc, because MGM/UA hopes that will entice you to buy all the other titles too, not just the Bond titles someone may feel worthy enough to own. But if it comes only with the box set, then you're trying to entice consumers who are already predisposed to "collecting" DVDs anyway, Preaching to the converted. And if you wund up owning ALL the Bond movies (and will probably eventually buy Die Another Day when it's released on DVD), what good does a montage of action sequences do you?

I didn't buy the Boogeymen DVD, or Ultimate FIghts, for the same reason. I don't mind watching a compilation of movie clips, but I certainly wouldn't pay money for it, or go out of my way to get one for free. So I guess I wouldn't cancel my order from amazon JUST to get the bonus disc from a B&M store. The ease of return on defective items is definitely a factor, though...

Again, just my opinion, and I'm not dumping on anyone who wants this bonus disc. Just trying to add a different perspesctive to the debate.

You should definitely cancel the amazon order

1. To get it quicker
2. The bonus disc
3. The guarantee thing you discussed,

Cancel amazon and go out on but it at Circuit City.

That's exactly what I did. Now I've got a Bond Marathon coming up this weekend to try to watch as much as possible (I've spent the last day and 1/2 watching Deeds & ET). I like to watch all features of all dvds I buy asap in case of possible glitches. Knock on wood, so far so good on this weeks purchases but I've still got ST3 SE & all the Bonds to watch (only watched the Bonus footage disc which I like).
