TV on DVDs in 2003

Which one will you be getting? Here are the titles (List taken from DVDFile.com):
  • Battlestar Galactica
  • Charlie's Angels
  • Dawson's Creek
  • Dragnet
  • Emergency
  • The Golden Girls
  • Home Improvement
  • Magnum P.I.
  • Married With Children
  • Quantum Leap
  • The Rockford Files
  • Sliders
  • SWAT.
Married with Children is a guaranteed purchase for me.

Quantum Leap is the only one that really interests me. I used to love that damn show. My girlfriend will want Dawson's Creek, though. Which means I'll have to watch it.

There are several on that list that I might have an interest in, although "Quantum Leap" would be the main contender.

Other possibilities
Battlestar Galactica(iffy, been a long time since I've seen it)
Magnum PI (may have to break down and pick this up)

If Miami Vice would just get released, I'd be a happy camper.

Has anyone else noticed that the first season of Mad About You is coming out and at only $20? That's a great price, and for me, makes it irresistible. If some of the above shows came out at that price point, I would definitely pick them up. I hope we just see several of these shows continued next year. Mad About You and Babylon 5 being on that list...

Quantem Leap if I can find a good deal on it. I would have to find a extremely good deal to purchase Home Improvement or Married with Children. All of the others don't interest me at all.

On that list...

Battlestar Galactica
While not a perfect show, some of its stories were way ahead of their time in my opinion.

Not on the list...

Babylon 5
Buffy
X-Files
Farscape

And I recall reading Witchblade season 1 would be released next year.

It's a great price because they've crammed 22 episodes onto just two discs. That's about four hours of programming per disc.

Quantum Leap, regardless of price. Awesome Series.

With Battlestar Galactica being released, I sure hope universal decides to release Glen Larson's other series KNIGHT RIDER!

The first few seasons of Home Improvement would be awesome. The first season of Sliders seems like a worthwhile investment, also.

Married...With Children is with no doubt a must-purchase.

Dragnet is also up on my priority list, as long as it's the 60s version with Harry Morgan.

I will only continue collecting the series's I've started:

- Twin Peaks
- Buffy
- The Simpsons (which sadly wasn't mentioned in that press release...)
- Mr. Show
- Oz

If the following ever get released I'll start collecting them too:
- Freaks and Geeks
- Undeclared
- Homicide: Life on the Streets

Wow... the Golden Girls on DVD - who figured. That's great.

I, like Marq, will only continue to collect the series I've started:

Oz
Transformers
All in the Family
The Simpsons
M*A*S*H
Twin Peaks

But, I'll have to add Married With Children, Quantum Leap and Home Improvement to that list.

If any of the following seasons I listed above (that I own) start coming out at a faster rate, then the three I mentioned below, can forget it.

PERHAPS in Canada. By that I *don't* mean, "perhaps they will, but if they did it would only be in Canada". What I *do* mean is that the Canadian branch of Warner, who released the Smallville pilot in Canada earlier this year, will release some more non-season discs in Canada early next year. If they fly off the shelves like the first one did, it might lead to season sets.

But only in Canada. Syndication and other rights issues prevent release in the USA for a couple of years yet. Warner might try to buy out the rights if it looks like it would be profitable. However, they know they can just release R1 stuff in Canada and the fans will find a way to buy it (I did! ). So they profit is theirs on the DVD without outlaying money for rights; for them it would be a win-win scenario. Expect it to stay Canada-only.

Keep an Eye on TVShowsOnDVD.com for new release info, and for links to Canadian e-tailers who will ship to the USA. After all, the site caters to all of R1, but the owner is in Alberta!

I will continue to collect Buffy, and Babylon 5 of course.

New for 2003....

DS9 (still waiting for the official announcement, but it's coming)

Married With Children (YES!!)

Battlestar Galactica

Possibly Quantum Leap. Girlfriend's a bigger fan than I, but I wouldn't mind owning it if she thought she'd watch the discs some.

  • Bionic Woman
  • Baa Baa Black Sheep/Black Sheep Squadron
  • Hogan's Heroes
  • F Troop
  • Addams Family
  • Get Smart

That, my friend, is a good question.

Perhaps they (Sony or Columbia (whatever)) decided to keep it in the family?

I don't know really, but All In the Family Season 2 is long overdue.

Come on Columbia!

Season 2 holds some of the best moments in the show's history. It pisses me off considering the set most likely will be bare bones if released.

Wow.
I'm in shock!

I'd have to go for:

Quantum Leap (keep the wife happy, and I liked the show too)
Alias (I didn't see this one listed, but someone posted it's coming out too? I'm SO getting this one)

Maybe Sliders!

I purchased Buffy through Season 3 from the UK, but have decided to wait for the region 1 releases to catch up before I buy anymore.

Wow. So much good TV, so little time and money. :-)

Yes, I want these as well, aintnosin!!! If I had it, I'd probably watch one episode everyday. Good stuff. I hope they are planning on releasing it. I was quite shocked to discover Charlie's Angels and The Golden Girls being released.

teheehee. I just thought of something, since its been so long since the original airing, they could do a The Golden Girls Angels..teeeheee....

OK, now back to 'real' world

Prancer, if either of the Bionic series came out, I'd run (in slow motion, of course ) down to the store to buy them.
