What Movie is this

if anyone can help me its you guys, this has been bugging me for a while and i keep forgetting to post it,

theres a movie i remember being on TV a few times when i was kid, so im assuming its a late 70's or 80's movie, all i can remember is this one scene

this movie has like Mech robots in it, you know 20 story big mech warriors, but it wasnt like they were used for War or military purposes, people battled in them and in this scene i remember these large platforms where the guy would climb into the Mech and then the other guy would and they would fight in this large area, i believe they could hover a little too

can anyone tell me what i am talking about its driving me nuts

There's a movie sorta like that called "Robot Jox", with Gary Graham (from the "Alien Nation" TV series). But it's from 1990, so it may not be what you're looking for.

There really aren't that many non-Japanese giant robot movies out there.

no, it's not (legally) out on DVD. You can find used VHS all over eBay and half.com. Robot Jox is one of those great scifi films from the early 90's that is utterly silly and campy, but great fun.
I think the reason you think it's even older than 1990, is because the film is very soft, and the effects are terrible - Godzilla-like (man in suit!). If you can't wait, CRASH AND BURN is out on DVD, and it was produced by the same people, and has one of the robot jox robots in it (but the film itself is baaaaad).

anyway, hopefully it will find its way to DVD soon...

...ahh... yes... Crash And Burn... one of those so bad it's (almost!) good! flicks... although... frankly, this review is more fun than the movie itself (imnsho, I hasten to add!)...

. . . . . .

from http://www.roogulator.esmartweb.com/sf/robotjox.htm

Gordon originally shot the film in 1986 under the title Robojox. At the time he made it Gordon was attempting to exploit the mid-1980s craze for Transformer toys, inspired by tv’s Transformers (1984-7). But the film was caught up by the financial collapse of Albert and Charles Band’s Empire Studios in the late 1980s and by the time it was eventually released the Transformer craze was well and truly over

so heres another reason it looks so old, it is and i cant find it anywhere for download, pissing me off

even if you do find it on a P2P network, it will likely have been digitized from VHS copy...why not just buy a $5 copy on eBay...digitize it yourself, and you can still watch it on your computer...:p

I'll never forget RobotJox. I had just went to see it in a theater and then went over to a friend who worked as Master Control at Warner Cable and found out while we had been in the cinema the US had started war with Iraq.
