A Fire Warning!

I recieved my copy of 'Reign Of Fire' today, and this is a warning that there HAS to be a special edition of this disc.

Reasons?

1. Single Disc.
2. Its Buena Vista.
3. Only 2 featurettes and a conversation with the director.
4. The cover is rubbish enough to make a special edition one look amazing.
5. There has to be more special features than whats on it.
6. It did fairly well at the box office
.
If I was a betting man, i'd put a hell of a lot of money on the fact there will be a 2 disc spec ed probably sometime early next year.

My advice would be to wait, unless you loved the film.

I on the other hand, didn't like the film ENOUGH to 'double-dip'

ala almost famous (of which i own both because its worth it)

Sorry, you're way off on that. According to IMDB.com, the movie cost 95 million dollars to produce, which means they're not including marketing and advertising in that figure. In the US, the movie grossed a little over 43 million. Unless my mental math fails me, that's UNPROFITABLE. Of course, I'm sure it'll eventually get in the black once you factor in foreign B.O., video, cable & PPV.

Also, I know this isn't scientific, but over at ew.com, a third of the readers who bothered to respond to the poll said that the movie was worse than they had expected, and gave it a C+ grade. Not the worst news in the world, but probably that sort of lethargy and indifference towards the movie is why you're not going to see a deluxe edition of Reign of Fire anytime soon, unless it's licensed from another company like Anchor Bay.

Be happy it got what it got.

Yeah, I don't think we're gonna see an SE reissue of this movie. I enjoyed it, but many people felt it was just ok. Between that and the box office returns, I think that is enough to insure that there will NOT be any kind of SE coming out.
