I hope that, despite them resurfacing the parking lot on my apartment complex, the mail still gets delivered tomorrow. If my DVD's are delayed because of this, somebody is gonna pay!

Yeah, I don't think I'll be attending school tomorrow morning.

Since I've already taken the day off of work, there's no need to get up at 6:30 to go to school for an hour and a half. We're only getting our midterms back and I think I did well enough to keep my B so I feel pretty good about playing sick just one day out of the semester. :insert painfully missed barf smilie here:

However, I'll only be picking up ATOC tomorrow. I thought that the only extended version of LOTR that would be released was the mega expensive (for me anyway) 5 disk set. I can be so ignorant someimes.

I'm picking up AOTC, but I have so many movies and TV shows on DVD that are so much better, I'd be more likely to watch them tomorrow. I'll probably watch a South Park or two. Gonna pick that set up for sure tomorrow.

I'll be picking up both AotC and LotR:EE tomorrow, but unfortunately work commitments still have to be fulfilled. I may have to watch one of them tomorrow, even if it is at 11pm at night

I picked my FotR and AotC up this morning, and now I can stare at them all day, wishing I was at home rather than work.

But, I took tomorrow off, so I can stay up all night and thru tomorrow having a sci-fi/fantasy fest!

Well, here's my little FotR/Ep.II adventure.

I went to Best Buy around 1:30, armed with my TRU ad. The place was packed, I'd never seen the store like that. Everyone had a calender and a copy of Ep.II. I migrated with the rest of them to this big table with all of the Star Wars stuff on it, and there was also one of the FotR gift sets. It was the last one, and I got it. I kissed it passionately, and was promptly stared at. I walked to the register, and several people saw that I had the TRU ad and decided it would be best to follow me, but the checkout lady said that they weren't doing the price match anymore because TRU was sold out. We beat her to death. No we didn't, we all sighed in frustration. But the guy directly behind me, who was buying several copies of Ep.II, pulled out his Walmart receipt from just 20 minutes prior, and showed it to the lady. She grudgingly allowed all 5 of us angry mobsters the $9.99 price, but no one else. Thank god for the that Star Wars fanatic.

I was lucky all around

Oh, I also grabbed three of those Netflix things. Free cases, free coupons

I'm really disappointed in you man.... YOU should have been that Star Wars Fanatic who raised hell to get the price you wanted....

Hey, I did my best! For everything I said, the clerk responded "We aren't doing the price check." But just when I'd given up, he solemnly tapped me on the shoulder and gave me the "It's cool, I've got this one" hand gesture and pulled out that receipt. Then he glowed golden, and we all gasped in awe. Even the Best Buy employees seemed thoughtful, and that's saying something.

Now, if she'd told me I'd have to pay more for the LOTR gift set... :rar:

Who was this guy!! Why's he running round all the stores buying copies of Star Wars?? Who's he dealing to??
I suppose he could hold off a few weeks and sell them at 20 bucks a pop on Ebay to the peons, but seriously!

So I go to Fry's Electronics in Sunnyvale, California (SF Bay Area) and they're out of copies of the 4-disc LOTR. All they have left are the gift sets, which was fine with me since I wanted the gift set to begin with. I look at the sticker price and it says $69.99 and I don't see any "sale" tags anywhere, so I go "What the hell, I still have that $10 rebate coupon". I also pick up Episode II on sale for $14.87.

I get to the register and turns out the gift set is on sale after all - $49.99!!! Man you can't beat that. Needless to say I'm stoked as hell, I can't wait to go home and pop these in.

Just felt like sharing.

Well, I decided to try to get on that $9.99 deal for AOTC.

When I got to Toys'R'Us they were out of widescreen. I grabbed the flyer and went to Circut City. They told me they could only price match the full screen edition. I gabbed with the clerk for awhile but he couldn't give me the cheap price, he said he would get in trouble if he gave it to me, since the managers knew TRU were out.

Argh! Where's a splat smiley when ya need one?

I had an interesting adventure in my DVD hunting today. I got out of work at 4:30 and treated my mother to a nice dinner. (Although it wasn't nice on my wallet. But hey, Friday's pay-day. ) After dinner, I made the trek down to Target to pick up a copy of AOTC and LoTR: EE. I get into the store and there are dozens upon dozens of the Star Wars DVDs scattered throughout the place. It seemed to be an equal amount of Widescreen and Pan & Scan versions, but more Widescreens were gone than full-screen. (It didn't look like even one full-screen version was bought that day.) So I pick up my Widescreen AOTC and see that it is only 15 dollars. That made me pretty happy. I then go looking further down on the "New Releases" rack to find the LoTR: EE. THERE WERE NONE! They only had two little slots were they had the LoTR: EE version for sale, and they were completely empty. The tag was there but there were no copies of it left. I couldn't really find anyone around to bother asking if there were anymore in the store, so I just picked up my copy of Star Wars and made my way home. (I had a back-up plan anyway.) I just still can't believe how much space they had devoted to Star Wars and Spiderman, and how little space they had devoted to LoTR: EE. I mean, the slots there probably only held about two copies each for a total of four copies.

So I head home and on the way decided to stop at the local Wal-Mart. When I got into Wal-Mart, I saw dozens upon dozens upon dozens of Star Wars DVDs. Just about every one that was on the shelf was Full-Screen, and the big empty parts of the displays were the Wide-Screen versions. (It looks like the people who shop at that particular Wal-Mart don't care for full-screen. Even the three or four people in line with copies of AOTC in their hands had the widescreen version. ) So I get into the DVD section, and I see a case where they put a bunch of their "non-normal packaging" DVDs. Things like Band of Brothers, South Park, Simpsons, etc. etc. The DVDs that don't come in the normal keepcases. I look at the case, and there is one big glaring empty spot that sticks out. Underneath that empty spot is the tag for LoTR: EE. I get a little bit irked and settle on the fact that I might have to just go home, order it online, and wait a few days for it to come in. Then, as I'm getting ready to leave, I notice some green cardboard behind a copy of Spiderman. I look closer and see that someone had tried to hide this last copy of LoTR:EE. Elated, I pick up the "hidden" copy, pay the 29.99 for it, and go home with both of my targeted DVDs in my hands.

So even though the dinner, two movies, and some cash for the rest of the work week drained 135 bucks out of my bank account, the night turned out pretty damned good.

Well, I checked my pre-order with Amazon, and it looks like I neglected to upgrade to priority mail. So my copy of FOTR: EE will be arriving sometime next week. Frustrating, but also my own stupid fault, so I can't complain. I'll pick up AOTC at our 24-hour Wal-Mart after work, and that'll be good until then.
