FotR Extended version discussion - DVDfile.com forum for DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD

Can't believe no one is discussing this....

I was able to watch the extended version last night with the extra 30 minutes added. Glorious!! Nearly all the stuff put back in was important to the story. THE most important stuff added back in was Galadriel giving them all their gifts.

There were only two small parts I could have lived without them adding. In Lothlorien when the elves are singing and lamenting the death of Gandalf, Sam starts going into a goofy poem about Gandalf's fireworks. Didn't fit in that scene at all. The other is when Merry and Pippin are sitting in the boats about to leave Lothlorien (talking about eating lembas) when Pippin (?) rips a huge fart. They are the comic relief of the movies, but ripping huge farts?

Other than that, it was spectacular and I doubt I'll ever watch the theatrical version again.
