Anyone know if Queen Margot is planned for Region 1?

Queen Margot is one of my favorite films, and my videotape copy has recently bit the dust.

Anybody know if this is being planned for a domestic release on DVD?

Well, it made it to Laserdisc and it's currenty released in region 2, so I'd say there is a shot.

I heard there is a related or loosely related TV show in Europe of the same name as well.

I think Isabelle Adjani must have a pact with Satan, to remain as youthful as she has...damn...

But I digress :p

Yeah! What's up with that? She looked more beautiful in this film than she did in Possession!

Must be that odd Turkish/French genetic cocktail she's got in her DNA.

Either that or the painting of her she keeps in her attic that does all the aging for her...

She is not only beautiful but what a bold actress.

I remember seeing Camille Claudel and thought she was simply amazing. Then years later I see her in Queen Margot. WOW!!!

Queen Margot is such a good film. The scenes in the court were beautiful. Love the costumes in the wedding scene. It was so funny when they were both supposed to kneel in front of the priest and one of the women pushed Margot to kneel. That was funny.

Queen Margot is at the very top of my "Most Wanted List".
Absolutely dying for an R1 release!

Captured the panic of the, um, events and the ensuing chaos perfectly (as well as that 'unwashed' look).

Besides...a phenomenally beautiful and horny princess...what's not to love?

She looked better in QM (mid-90's) than she did in 'The Story of Adele H." (mid-70's). HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?????

Maybe we should change the name of this thread to:

"How does Isabelle Adjani get progressively more hot the older she gets?"

I love the movie and hope my laserdisc doesn't rot! Aside from Adjani looking 20 when she was closer to 40, Queen Margot has gotta be the greatest blood and thunder epic in recent years. I loved the spectacle of the court, the absolute insanity and hysteria of the massacre, the villains who were more evil than Sauron. Damn, what an entertaining film! I'd love to see it on a R1 DVD.

Wow, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one here who loves this movie.

It's a really good film that seems to have gone relatively unnoticed here in the States. The VHS version even seems to be out of print at this point, which is why I'm so bummed

I remember when this movie came out, I had just gotten out of college. I first learned about the film while channel surfing and Siskel and Ebert were doing their review. I was fortunate to catch this segment of the show and was totally taken in by the story. That face, that beautifully amazing face!!! OK, I'm sorry to go on about her but I can't help it!

I was so fortunate to have watched this film for the first time on LD! I met someone, before DVD, who had a great collection of LD. I was amazed by the quality of the picture. When I came across this film, I had to watch it. IT WAS SPECTACULAR!!!!

I hope well deserved great transfer for a great film!!!!!!!!!!

OOh, I just looked up and found out the studio that released this film was Buena Vista. Maybe there's hope!

Thought it was time to resurrect this thread, since Queen Margot has finally been released...

...and to comment on what a horrible transfer it's been given. Ech! The picture is grainier than sandpaper!

Still, I'm happy to have the film in my collection at all, at this point.
