Goldmember: What did you think?
Just finished watching this DVD and I must say this was one of my better "blind" purchases. The movie was about on par with "The Spy Who Shagged Me", possibly a tad better.
The A/V quality was simply spectacular! 'm VERY impressed with this DVD.
Peace.....

The deleted scenes are fantastic - especially the musical number
I haven't had a chance to check the rest of the disk yet but I'll get round to it tomorrow.

I've enjoyed the first two, but I've never seen one of them at the theaters, as the trailers never impressed me... Goldmember is no different. Sounds like I might just have to give it a rental.

Its worth teh purchase SeanL. I bought it 3 times today. First time it was *covers self in protective gear* VHS. . . . .it was for my cousin. Ok then i boughtit at the mall at HMV for $23.99. I go upstairs to Music World and its buck cheaper PLUS i got a Mini Me Bobble-Head
Some deleted scenes are great. Those twins are hot yes.

Highly enjoyable opening parody sequence, and all downhill from there on with the now tired and recycled requisite jokes from the previous films. Goldmember as a villian was a complete bore, and Fat Bastard as a reoccuring character has me contemplating random homicide in that Jar Jar Binks sort of way. Roach and Myer's wasted a wonderful talent in Caine by having him do next to nothing. My hope is that if this series continues someone hooks Myer's up to an IV for a badly needed shot of inspiration.

I loved this at the theater. I hated TSWSM, so I was relunctant at first - but I'm glad I saw it. I like it better than the first one.
Gonna pick up the DVD soon.

i liked it, but it's definitely my least favorite of the series so far.
the first 10 minutes guarantee a sort of good will that follows through the rest of the movie, but goldmember is a dull new character, fat bastard is just flat-out crude (instead of crudely funny) this time around, and beyonce knowles (despite looking fabulous in all her retro fashions) is about on par with heather graham -- which is to say, elizabeth hurley is SORELY missed. also, the humor occasionally seems smugly self-satisfied, which is a quality i probably wouldn't associate with the second film. (and not the first film at all.) still, if you like the series, this movie will entertain you despite its (sometimes depressing) flaws. mch |

i thought it was quite good. michael caine made the film for me.
when i saw it over the summer, i thought it started out a bit slow and gradually grew on me through the duration of the showing. tonight i plan on viewing all of the extras on the disk. i loved the deleted scenes from the spy who shagged me. ![]()

well i dont know why Beounce matters so much besides looks. honestly i always thought of this kind of as a spoof of james bond movies and that austin as a diff girl every movie and that they are only there for looks and not much more(sorry if any ladies are reading. please dont bash me)
and i thought this movie was hilariously funny. and the movie is jampacked with extras@! and they are all pretty much great to watch. i really liked the ones with Goldmember singing the song trying to get somebody to understand that he was saying "Father". SPOILER!!!!! (Kind of but only a deleted scene) also loved the scene "Man of the Buisness" i think that was it. its like the 4th deleted scene. i thought it was hilarious when scott mimicked the deleted scene from TSWSM doing the "Great, I threw up in my mouth" little thing. that was one scene from TSWSM that i just couldnt understand why it didnt make it to the movie. and why doesnt anybody like Goldmember? i thought that goldmember was a great character and was very funny. i just didnt like how the movie was titled goldmember but he really wasnt the main villain. lets face it, it was pretty much all Doc Evil.

One of the most painfully unfunny comedies in recent memory. This whole film reminds me of a terrible standup comic saying "geddit? geddit, huh? geddit?" after every joke. Not only that, but it seems that the Austin Powers series has turned into a parody of itself.
I liked the first one very much, thought the second had it's moments, but "yeah, baby, yeah!" is not enough material for 3 full length movies.

i think that the female lead in an austin powers movie has to be a deft comedienne of some kind, or she's going to seem like she's not in on the joke. heather and beyonce stuck out like sore thumbs.
looks matter, but it appears these two were cast only with that physical prerequisite. mch |

I guess you missed Ecks Vs. Sever and Extreme Ops. Oh well i finally watched it tonight on my family new JVC 27 Inch D-Series tv. Wow picture quality is great and so was the sound (even with the stereo sound only) Some great deleted scenes i wished stayed in the movie. Especially the book covers skit Again highly recommend the purchase of the movie.

An IV for AP: IV? YEAH BABY YEAH [/Austin Powers voice] I still have to pick this up, I better do it quick before the price changes! I was going to pick up the three-disc set but I don't have the money right now. The other two packaged in the three disc set aren't any different then buying them seperately are they? Just different color cases? |

What I love about all the Austin Powers movies is that when you watch them, they make you feel good about yourself! That's why I LOVE all of them, ESPECIALLY Goldmember! They are the only movies I can watch when I'm completely in a bad mood and then feel great by the end of them. They're definitely good "cheer-up" movies.

This was the first movie I watched on my Grand Wega II, and while it look amazing, I do think this is the worst of the series. And Beyonce
the bad part is that i have a panny rp-91 dvd player and for some reason this dvd will not pause or ff or rewind on this player among others. |

I thought this movie had it's funny parts in the theatre, but the same jokes fell kind of flat when I watched it again on DVD.
The first 2 movies have much more of a "Repeat-ability Factor". Also, I felt that the movie was hurt by me having just seen Undercover Brother prior to seeing this, and just don't think that Austin Powers did the blacksploitation (spelling?) think nearly as well. Beyoncé (spelling again?) took herself way too seriously and wasn't nearly as entertaining to watch as they would have liked if you were just watching the movie and not her cleavage. Not to mention that they took the most interesting character (Scott Evil) and turned him into Ron Howard Last edited by wahlers : 12-05-2002 at 04:13 PM. |

I thought the flick was pretty good. I wasn't a real big fan of the original two, but I decided to pick this one up due to the opening sequence which was great. I thought the Goldmember bits were funny...him eating his skin and i loved his accent with the "fazha". Beyonce wasn't that bad either and Michael Caine was great. The best one yet.

I rented the DVD and watched all fo the features. I have 2 questions that have bugged me.
1) I remember hearing about elizabeth Hurley scenes being cut after initinal press screenings. The reason give at the time was she was simply not funny. No mention of it on the DVD. 2) In the commentary(over top the end credits) Mike Myers seems determined to avoid promising or denying there bing any further movies in the AP serios. How odd. It's definitely worth a rental, and I'm still contemplating buying it.I am hoping for cheap copies ot turn up used stores beginnning in about february. DVDD |
