El Marachi getting re-released on DVD on February 4th, 2003

Geez,Columbia will do anything to get their films re-released on DVD.
Anyways here are the extras:
1: Director´s commentary
2: Trailers
3: Robert Rodriguez´s short film Bedhead
4: 10 Minute Film School documentary.

Thats it.

Is that any better than what the current release has (the one in the 2-pack with Deserado)? I know the commentary already existed...

What are they doing?

Thanks for the info (unless this release is just a rehash or less of the old one).

They did this because many people (I live with some, and Roger Ebert is another) absolutely hate Desperado but love El Mariachi. I must admit. I wish they would have released this earlier, so I could have El Mariachi and a Superbit Desperado

I already have Desperado: Superbit and will probably get this.

Cool. I love El Marachi and I only have it on LD. I have the Superbit Desperado, great transfer and sound, one of the best.

El Mariachi is cool if you've read Robert Rodriguez's book REBEL WITHOUT A CREW ... if you haven't read the book, then you probably won't be too impressed with Mariachi ... personally, I liked DESPERADO a lot better and look forward to '...Mexico'

I haven't seen either Desperado or El Mariachi. I'm thinking it would probably be simpler to just get the double feature disc.
I know that I wouldn't be missing anything w/ Desperado but am I w/ El Mariachi if I get the old double feature release instead of this upcoming disc?

These are the exact same features that are on the double feature disc, so no one will get screwed if you already have that version.

Finally it is available separate.. I hate having more than 1 film in the same packaging as BTTF and Planet of the Apes, but having 2 films on the one disc really annoyed me.

So now I can having it on the shelf separately... Altho looks like the extras are the same. Not a drama though as this commentary is A1

According to DavisDVD, both El Mariachi and Desperado are scheduled for August 26 release as special editions.

If the extras are truly in line with what's detailed above, I'll pass since they seem to match my two-fer disc.

On the other hand, if anyone knows of updated specs for the forthcoming releases, please post them here!
