Family Guy & Futurama 1st half 2003

It seems like it. According to IGN DVD in their letter section, one of the writers for the site stated this

Futurama & Family Guy in 2003!

Does FOX plan on releasing box set seasons of Futurama and Family Guy here in North America. On Amazon's UK site I see that they sell them but searching the American and Canadian sites reveals nothing, not even a pre-order page like some DVDs have. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Jeremy Responds: Great news! According to FOX, both shows will arrive on DVD in the first half of 2003. No word on commentary for Futurama, but Family Guy is currently slated to include commentary from the cast!

Yippie finally a date seems to be near.

Pretty exciting. You'd think the extras for this release would be identical of the UK version.

Family Guy

Love the Family Guy ... one of the most underrated shows on television. I'm glad to see it coming to R1, especially since I work at fox and can get the dvd set at the employee 50% off discount

These two sets I think might have identical extras as the region 2s. For those of you who have those, what extras do they have?

I hope the R1 version of Futurama doesn't have different/more extras than the R2 version, since I just received my R2 copy this week..

To answer an earlier question, the R2 season 1 I imported did not have any extras whatsoever, it was strictly a barebones release. I wonder if the US version (with commentaries) will be a complete series set (of all 50 episodes including the banned Weinstein episode) or if it will just be the first season...

AFAIK, Family Guy was cancelled (thankfully ). I know that Futurama is still aired on Sunday nights on Fox. I had heard that it had been cancelled some time ago , but I think they are still airing new episodes (finishing off this season, AFAIK).

I can't see how you guys consider futurama funnier than the family guy. Futurama was funny but only stayed on because of the simpsons. The family guy episodes were a lot funnier than the simpsons episodes that were running at the same time, but nothing in the genre beats classic simpson's episodes

I found Family Guy wanting, very much. It relied on too much shock humor and was often rather obvious and simplistic.

Futurama on the other hand has been funnier than the Simpsons over the last three years, by a fair amount.

I'm with 1138 on Family Guy. The few times I've watched it, I usually found one or two things to laugh at, but the rest was just groans. IMO, Futurama is more consistently funny, and funnier, than Family Guy. I'm gonna be ordering the second season from R2 as soon as I get the money.

I think both series were terrific, but it's true that they couldn't compete with the "golden era" simpsons of old. But what could? Nothing, that's what.

But I think the ingenuity of the Simpsons's greatness was put into Futurama, and it has really inventive animation and smart writing. Family Guy I enjoyed because it was just non-stop.. sure, it did get a bit too into scatologics, but it was combined with some really cutting satire and clever jokes (thanks in part to lil' Stewie)

Put in the category of not liking Futurama and loving the Family Guy. I can know get rid of all those horrible realplayer family guy episodes.

Family Guy throws in so many jokes/references/slapstick routines per minute, that even if only 25% of them are funny, that's still more laughs per half hour than the Simpsons (of late) and Futurama. A sure FG buy here (and I collect the Simpsons too).

Oh, hell yes! I'm more excited about Futurama but I'm all over both. Thanks for the specs! The wait for more Simpsons just got a bit more tolerable.

It sounds like the Futurama set will be the same as the R2 version, which is a relief..

I don't know wh
