Are there 2 versions of Joshua Tree on DVD (Dolph not U2)?

Several website give radically different info. First of all there is DC-DVD which says that there is an old version that has been discontinued but is no way different than the new version.

Barnes and Noble say that there is a pan/scan Dolby 2.0 version that is NOT digitally mastered (it was copied from a VHS version onto disc) ,which I have, and a pan/scan Dolby 5.1 version. Why release it if it's not in it's OAR of 2.35:1?

Bestwebbuys.com say that their version IS in widescreen and it has Dolby 5.1 sound.

Suncoast claims that a first release was in Aug 1999 and then another in Feb 2000.

So what is going on? Any info at all would be very much appreciated. Please don't just ignore this thread as I would seriously like to know the deal here.
