Critters ?

For years, I have been confused as to why New Line Cinema has not made any mention (that I've heard) of putting the Critters movies on DVD.

The first one wasn't all that bad (for a horror movie), and 2, 3 & 4 were just good cheesy fun.

Now, I know they're not everybody's cup o' tea, but are they any more undeserving of a release than the Puppet Master series (which got a complete series box set), or the Omen sequels (which got a complete series box set).

So, what I would like to see is Critters released as a special edition with commentary, documentary, effects featurette, and then a box set with the Critters DVD and DVDs of 2, 3 and 4. Maybe they could get Leonardo DiCaprio to do commentary on 3, and Angela Bassett to do commentary on 4

Anyway, has anybody heard anything about these that I've missed?

And if not, anybody know when New Line will be on the HTF again so I could ask them about it?

Not only was the first one "not that bad" it was great. Every time there is a post on movies wanted on dvd Critters (along with Young Sherlock Holmes) are at the top of my list (along with the usual blockbusters). I didn't care for the sequels but I Loved the original.

I've been waiting for Young Sherlock Holmes for a long time also. There had been a widescreen remastered LaserDisc announced back in 1997 just prior to DVDs coming out, and then it was cancelled.

I assumed it was because it was going to come out on DVD.

Damn Spielberg!

Count me in for the Critters 1-4 box set. I loved 'em all. Great fun. I grew up with them and would gladly plunk down 50 bucks for a set

They should just release a DVD-18 of the entire series, it would sell pretty good if the price is right. Heck, I've seen teenage girls buy the 3rd one just for Leo

sure, who wouldn't?

but how much supplemental material can you get for a fairly old, really low-budget film like critters?

From what I understand, there is a ton of behind-the-scenes footage shot, I heard this from a Chiodo Bros. chat at Horrordvds.com
