A Walk To Remember: Family Edited Version?

What's up with this? Anyone have more info? It's being released on 12/24.

Wierd. They might be trying to dumb it down to get a G rating; remove the cussing or fighting, maybe.

But that really is odd.

I actually enjoyed this film, but if it was any more light you would have to tac it onto your screen to make sure it stayed there.

...the 'Alternate versions' page on the IMDb site has this to say about cuts made to get a PG rating...

this is one of my favorite movies, (probably because of Mandy), but i dont think that is the only reason i like it, this is wierd, do they feel there is enough of an audience who wouldnt buy the PG13 but will buy a PG

I haven't seen this, but I do remember that the version that played at the theater I work at was indeed just rated PG.

That's not funny. The book they based it on is probably a...PG, so there's no way they could up it to NC-17 and still be the same film that it was.

Actually word on the street is that Paul Verhooven is looking to write and shoot in a few "special" scenes. Oh and Elizebeth Berkley is set to star as Mandy's friend...

NC-17? That IS funny. I'd might actually watch it then.

Apparently they had to blur Mandy Moore's face because to many young boys were getting erections.

This thread is getting really entertaining.

I haven't seen this movie and have no plans to because it just looks too squeaky pukingly clean. Unless there are any other sources aside from this one site, I'm sure it's just a typo.

If there is in fact an edited version to be released, I'd be quite scared. It's bad enough NC17 movies often get R rated cuts for home video, but the thought of a person who feels that their kid isn't safe watching this chicken soup for the soul looking flick makes me cringe.

Well, there's a good deal of language...

I hate it when they make "family-friendly" versions of "family-unfriendly" films. It is completely screwing the director's original vision.

unless the director encourages it of course...

Considering the film we're talking about, I'll edit your post for ya:

... haven't seen the movie myself, but what exactly was the director's vision for A Walk to Remember ? ... aside from unleashing the very pretty Mandy Moore on the masses and hopefully eliminating any chance of her continuing her "Pennies in my Pocket" singing career.
