Fox Titles That Deserve Five Star Collection Treatment

I know this has probably been done before, but I haven't seen one for a while, so I thought I'd ask...Which Fox movies do you think deserve a Five Star Collection two-disc set that don't already have one or aren't already planned to get one?

My list:
  • Oklahoma!
  • South Pacific
  • The King and I
  • State Fair
  • Home Alone
  • Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
  • Home Alone 3
  • That Thing You Do!
  • Anastasia (yes, the animated one)
  • Ever After: A Cinderella Story
  • Carousel
  • The Sandlot
  • Big
  • Mrs. Doubtfire
  • The NeverEnding Story

I'm not counting Star Wars, since that's Lucasfilm property.

Peter Staddon had a live-chat at Home Theater Forum, where he said:
"We are not doing any more 5 star releases, but there will be plenty of 5 star calibre catalog release over teh next year or so - X Men 1.5 being a good example."

Here's the whole transcript, go check it out. Interesting stuff

In that case, which movies deserved to be Five Stars, or which ones should get a Five Star-sque release?

Strange Days- Vastly underrated Kathryn Bigelow/Cameron film.
The Edge- Vastly underrated Hopkins film
The Towering Inferno- The Granddaddy of disaster films, and perhaps one of the best.

etc, etc

Fox has the overseas distribution rights to this film. Paramount, as far as I know, retains them in the USA. Seems like all of Cameron's films get the SE treatment sooner or later, but Paramount has thus far shown an aversion to full-blown SEs unless they are Star Trek films or Forrest Gump. But since this is Titanic, it may happen sooner or later.

And I have no worries that Fox will continue to release impressive special editions; they just won't bear the name "Five Star," but I'm sure they will continue.

The three FOX titles I'd most like to see re-released as Special Editions (I liked the "Five Star Collection" name, but as long as these were done right, it's just a name):

Home Alone
-New 16 x 9 transfer, DD 5.1 soundtrack
-Commentary from Chris Columbus
-Featurette from Production
-New Documentary / Cast Interviews
-Deleted Scenes
-Outtakes
-Trailers & TV Spots

Big
-New 16 x 9 transfer, DD 5.1 soundtrack
-Commentary with Tom Hanks and Penny Marshall
-Documentary
-Deleted Scenes / Outtakes
-AMC Backstory Special
-AFI Tom Hanks Lifetime Achievement "Big" Segment
-AFI 100 Laughs "Big" Segment
-Trailers & TV Spots

Mrs. Doubtfire
-This DVD is already pretty nice. Only things I would change:
-New 16 x 9 (2.35:1) transfer
-Make the Deleted Scenes individually accessible (and perhaps give the option to watch the movie with these scenes back in...some were pretty good, and there was a lot that was cut)
-and maybe a new documentary or Robin Williams commentary

Home Alone and Big are ENTIRELY in need of new Special Editions, and Mrs. Doubtfire's good DVD could easily be improved to a great Special Edition. All three are popular films that would much benefit from a new release better than the discs they got three years ago.

Oh yeah, and the Star Wars Trilogy could get nice 2-disc sets too.

I think the Sandlot deserves a lot more than it got. It is such a good story about growing up. I might even double-dip if such a SE came out for this movie.

Home Alone, the Poseidon Adventure, and Predator all deserve the special edition treatment.

The same definitely goes for True Lies* and Aliens*! At leat Dark Angel* is coming to DVD in '03.

*Bring on more James Cameron commentary!

Is the Five Star Collection basically the same as a Fox Special Edition DVD?
