Highlander: season 1

I'm a really big fan of the Highlander films (except for 3) and I remember really hating the series when I saw it back in 97. But after seeing Endgame a few times (A seriously flawed movie, but for some reason, I like it).

Would it be a good idea to pick up this set. I can get it for like $60 at Best Buy (buying it would be the only way to see it, as the rental shops around here suck, and so does the TV stations). But I just don't know

As a fan of the first movie and the series I must say that IF you do pick up the first season you will probably not like it. Most of the first season is crap, but the last ten episodes of it are okay and are where storylines/characters from the movie start being introduced.
To give a little history lesson (which I read in the box). The series started with no overall goals or plans for what to do in the long run. Then a new head writer came on board about midway through the first season and started fixing the series to give it more depth and plot. Starting with the episode Band of Brothers where Darius and Fitzcairn (Roger Daltrey's finest role) are introduced.
