Kubrick - A Life in Pictures standalone?

This snuck up on me - Link

For those of us that haven't got round to the getting the boxset this is great news that it's being made available outside of the collection.... no release date yet though.

I would like to get this one, as I am slowly trying to buy all the DVDs in the box set and would be missing this one. Great news

Pretty cool, but I still plan on getting the whole set as soon as I'm able.

Hmmm...interesting. My fiancee and I were going to go in together and buy the box set. Between the two of us, we've seen most of the films in the set - neither of us has seen 2001 or Barry Lyndon. But this news changes things, seeing as there are a couple of films in there we may be inclined to pass on were we to buy them individually.

Decisions, decisions...

I sure hope that book is pretty good. This seems pricey for one DVD. Who do they think they are, Criterion?

Well don't pass on 2001 or BARRY LYNDON! Those are both Kubrick at his best.

Get the box! Every film is prefect, and Barry Lyndon is a under-rated masterpiece. It may very well be his best film, definitely the best looking.

SolidSnake speaks the truth. The box set is THE way to go. Every movie looks and sounds just immaculate.

Looks like the cheapest place is about $100 at some online places, accodring to dvdpricesearch.com.

I think that's well worth it, and I definitely need to pick it up soon. (it doesn't include the book though, at least I don't think it does.)

And I agree, Barry Lyndon is a beautiful masterpiece, and one of his top 3 movies in my opinion.

This is fantastic news! I bought the original Kubrick Collection (unrestored) when it first came out, and as much as I want the documentary, I'm too damn broke to buy the Collection all over again just for that (yes, I know, each film is beautifully restored in the new box set, but I just don't have the financial freedom to buy the same 8 movies twice). Does anyone know if the book at this link (below) is the same book that is included in this yet to be released collector's box set?

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...388991-6033621

If so, then this set is DEFINITELY worth the price. I took a good look at this beautiful book at Chapters and it contains numerous rare and wonderful photographs of Stanley, his family and his movies with Christiane providing comments for each picture. I was seriously thinking about buying it until I heard about this collector's box set.

Again, this is fantastic news for a Kubrick worshipper such as myself!

I don't think you need the box set when every DVD is out on its own, and is exactly the same as the ones in the box set. I am slowly buying up all the DVDs in the box set (I only have 4 as of right now, but will get more as time passes). The box set is a lot of $$$ to put out all at once. The reason before to get the box set was for Stanley Kubrick - A Life in Pictures . Now you don't need the box set to get it. Shrug. Still a nice box set though I wish I could afford it :p

Just save up because it is way cheap to buy them all together.

I'm thinking I'd like to get the box set too. It's a lot of money at once, but in the long run we'd save upwards of $100.
