Dances with Wolves DVD?

When did this go OOP? It was on the telly today, and I remembered how much I like it, so went out to buy, only to find its OOP.
Any idea as to why its OOP, and if its coming back soon?

It's out of print because it's an old Orion release and MGM will be giving it a special edition revamp sometime in the near future.

I read that the SE is slated to come out next summer. 2 verisions of the movie - theatrical and international release as well as DTS. I have the full 4 hour version on laserdisc, but I'm not sure if that is the international cut.

The DVD was supposed to come out around fourth quarter of 2002, but got pushed back again.

I don't know if this is going to happen or not, but if they somehow managed to squeeze the theatrical/international cut, and add DTS (the Buffolo stampede sequence would be astounding), then I'd be very happy. But somehow I have a feeling they're going to split this up.

Do you know where you originally heard about those pieces of information? It just seems very rare for a director to provide commentary on two separate cuts of their film. This would be excellent, though.
