My 2003 DVD wish list

These are films that I want to either be re-done on DVD or released on DVD this year. And when I say re-done, I only mean because the release is either REALLY REALLY bad quality or because they didn't release a widescreen first time around.

Feel free to put your 2 cents in on the wish list!

_______________________________________________

Cloak & Dagger ( I NEED I NEED I WANT I WANT)

Flight of the Navigator

Once upon a time in America

Frantic - Polanski film in P&S come on... WB needs to release WIDE

Knife in the Water - criterion delayed release indefinately

The Tenant - postponed to sometime in 2003

Schindler's List

Miller's Crossing

Duel w/ Amblin as a special feature

Raging Bull - re-release

The Big Shave (short film)

D.O.A. (1988)

D.O.A (1950)

The Man with One Red Shoe

Rolling Thunder

In Cold Blood

Walking Tall Trilogy (widescreen)

Knife in the Water - Criterion (supposed to come 2003)

Well I know there are more, I may edit the post as they come to me, but that will do for now.

well for me it would be

Days Of Thunder: i know it will never get a re-release. but it would have been nice to have some extras, etc. and not just a barebones dvd. they could have had some really cool extras to go with the dvd. i have not bought this dvd yet for that reason. plus it still $19.99 i aint paying that much for a dvd that is barebones and a movie that has been out for long time...

just my two cents..

OH MY GOD! Cloak & Dagger... I was just talking about this with my cousin the other day.

I would love to get that on DVD.

Others I want:

1) Night of the Comet

2) Max Headroom (The complete first (and only) season)

3) The Rescuers
(the only non-platinum title that Disney hasn't released yet or announced... the only other non-platinum title not released yet being Sleeping Beauty, which is announced)

4) Monster Squad

5) Young Sherlock Holmes
(was promised a Widescreen remastered LaserDisc right before DVDs came out, and it was cancelled due to DVDs, and now Spielberg is sitting on it) :rar:

6) Medusa: Dare to be Truthful
(Columbia TriStar is sitting on this one)

7) Madonna: The Blond Ambition Tour
(really just so my cousin will shut up about it :p )

8) Jack's Back
(with James Spader vs. Jack the Ripper copycat killer)

The usuals - Blade Runner SE, Star Wars episodes 4, 5, 6, Indiana Jones...

DVDs currently on other regions but not R1:
Oasis (though rumor has it that Dreamworks is bringing this over across the ocean this year)
Battle Royale
My Sassy Girl (Dreamworks plans to remake this, blah)
Volcano High
Ichi The Killer: Uncut
Laputa: Castle In The Sky
Versus
Dark Water
Ringu
Chihwaseon (Strokes of Fire)
(Columbia-Tristar already has brought over The Road Home, Shiri, and Time & Tide, among others, over to R1 with great DVDs, so why can't we have MORE??)

Others:
Predator SE
The Fifth Element SE (it'll never happen, but one can only hope!)
The Killer (Uncut) or at least a reissue of the Criterion
Hard Boiled (Uncut) or reissue of Criterion
Bullet In The Head (Uncut)

I'd like to have Criterions or at least better versions of:
Stalker
Nostalghia
The Mirror
Offret (The Sacrifice)
(we got Andrei Rublev and Solaris, so bring on more Tarkovsky!)

Now that Conrad L. Hall has passed away (RIP).

I think it is time to release some of the films he worked on. Some are on DVD, some are not.

The one I REALLY REALLY WANT is Truman Capote's IN COLD BOLD. Cinematography is great... I used some cinematechniques from this film in my own short film.

From the replayability thread, I was inspired to add Nasty Habits, one of those movies I simply never tire of watching. Most of the others would be Altman films. I'd have to put Miller's Crossing on the list as well.

Action: Season 1

That's the only one I can think of offhand that isn't on DVD that I want.

Here's what I plan on buying, if I had the dough to do so:

Jan 14- About A Boy, Blue Crush, Undercover Brother
Jan 21- Bourne Identity, Simone Tadpole
Jan 28- Banger Sisters, Serving Sara
Feb 4- Sweet Home Alabama, Formula 51
February 11th- Greek Wedding, Igby Goes Down, Never Again
February 18th- One Hour Photo, Spy Kids 2, Rules Of Attraction, Four Feathers
February 25th- Road To Perdition, The Tuxedo, Knockaround Guys
March 4th- The Ring
March 11th- Swimfan, White Oleander, Below, Moonlight Mile
March 18th- Auto Focus, The Grey Zone, Rodger Dodger, Femme Fatale, Cheats
March 25th- Maid In Manhattan, Jackass
April 1st- The Breakfast Club: SE, Dawson’s Creek: Season 1
April 6th- Family Guy: Season 1

Of course, realistically:

Jan 14- About A Boy, Undercover Brother (32 bucks will cash me out)

Jan 21- Bourne Identity, Simone, Tadpole (I may have to search for Tadpole, so it may not be an immediate purchase)

Jan 28- Serving Sara (ONLY IF IT'S UNDER 15 DOLLARS)

Feb 4- Sweet Home Alabama, Formula 51 (I actually liked Formula 51. I dunno why)

February 11th- Greek Wedding (The other two were movies I'm dying to see. I have yet to make a "blind" purchase.

February 18th- Spy Kids 2 (Rules would have been a blind purchase)

February 25th- Road To Perdition, Knockaround Guys (loved Knockaround)

March 4th- Nothing. The Ring wasn't good enough for me to run out and buy it.

March 11th- Swimfan, Below, Moonlight Mile (Will DEFINITELY buy Mile and Below)

March 18th- All were blind buys.

March 25th- Jackass

April 1st- Dawson’s Creek: Season 1

April 6th- Family Guy: Season 1

I want the 1982 television production of Sweeney Todd, with George Hearn and Angela Lansbury. The VHS and laserdisc has been OOP for several years. Sweeney Todd in concert (recorded in 2001) was released last May by Image, so maybe one day we'll get the 1982 stage version.
