Lars Von Trier's "The Kingdom"
Has anybody watched this series? I was watching it last night on the Independent Film Channel and was really getting into it before I started getting waaayyyy too sleepy. I did a quick search for the DVD on Ebay, but noticed that it's only available on "Region 0" from China/Taiwan. Does anybody have any news on a possible US release? I'd hate to spend $10 on a Region 0 copy only to learn that it'll be released here in the U.S. sometime soon...

Don't bother with a crappy Region 0 disc--there's a Region 1 release of The Kingdom (only the first series, sadly) up here in Canada, put out by Seville, a company infamous for releasing fullframe DVDs of films like Lost Highway (they've caught on to the whole anamorphic widescreen thing lately). The picture quality isn't superb, but it is Danish television after all (no offense to the Danes), so the picture quality lies in the film stock, not the transfer. I would imagine it's still available from amazon.ca and the exchange rate is really sweet for you Yanks.
I own the two-disc release, but I would really like to see a DVD release of The Kingdom II (co-directed by von Trier), the next batch of episodes that has only sporadically shown up in arthouses in North America. ![]()

Crap! Thanks for that Retroboy! Amazon.ca does indeed have it in stock, and it comes out to just US$23.

The whole set (Kingdom I and Kingdom II) was released in Denmark, as well as all the scandinavian countries (Sweden, Finland, Norway). You can import it from several R2 dealers.

). Do you have a weblink? I have several references to the asian version (even disguised as R2), but it is still the same version......
