"Memoirs of an Invisable Man"....Chevy Chase's BEST film performance and one of John Carpenter's best films, but nobody cared when it came out, so, no one cares, now. It's nice that they gave us some extra features, for a change, considering it's not considered a successful film for anyone here.
"US Marshals"...The beginning is, more that a little confusing, but this turns into a verrrrrrrry good action film, that has the emphasis on the acting; you just have to have LOTS of faith, that it will turn into something good. There are strong acting performances all around, especially Tommy Lee Jones and Wesley Snipes, upon whose shoulders, the screenwriters place the ENTIRE STORY. Very strangely, we don't know the "why" of our story, until almost half-way into the film; I've never seen filmmakers take this much of chance before. But it works, and, of course, the verrrrrrrrry high amount, of hard driving action, literally, "drives" this film forward, too. Snipes proves that less is more, with a very terse, straight forward, no nonsense, acting performance. Joe "the hardest working man in show business" Pantolino, is also here, rounding out the cast, and making it work. |

Mr Show Season Three-This is one of the best sketch comedy shows ever made. The first two seasons were kind of shakey, not bad by any stretch, but the third and fourth seasons are where its at. If you haven't seen this show before, season three(or four) is the best place to start.

"Chicago"
Though I said I wouldn't pick it up, I couldnt resist....and I was very pleasantly surprised, by the tight, professional rendering, of this film. A job, very well done, by EVERYONE here. Very entertaining, without all of that excess that tends to get me reaching for for the "eject" button. |

"Rosemary's Baby"
For 1968, this was as important a horror film, as "The Exorcist", became, in US popular culture. Produced by horror film expert William Castle, and directed by Roman Polanski, it still stands-up ! What's striking, isn't so much the Stars...Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes...it's the supporting cast members, that make this film special. Ruth Gordon, Ralph Bellamy, Sidney Blackmer, Maurice Evans, Charles Grodin, the telephone voice of Tony Curtis...and TONS of those faces we are all familiar with, but don't, necessarily, know the name...Elijah Cook Jr., Patsy Kelley, and Faces from Tv shows, we all know. Incredible job of casting here! Last edited by mikenyc : 09-01-2003 at 03:53 PM. |
