Finally gave in and bought the Dead Or Alive trilogy box set (Region 1). Was pretty worried about this, 'cause it ain't cheap and there's nothing on the cover to indicate if the discs are anamorphic or if they're the censored or uncensored versions. I needn't have worried. The uncensored versions are used throughout. There's a really bad layer switch on DOA1 (why dual layer at all? it's a 100 min. film with only a 7 min. interview as extra?) but apart from that they look and sound great. 1 and 2 are both anamorphic (3 was "filmed" on videotape so it's not a concern).

Why, when the company make the effort to present great quality discs, do they not brag about it on the covers? Usually it's the other way around.

After winning about $160 playing Texas Hold 'Em, I went on a little shopping spree...

Full Metal Panic! Vols. 5, 6 & 7
Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi Vol. 3
28 Days Later -- a blind buy
Forrest Gump
Donnie Darko -- another blind buy, since @ Best Buy it was 2 for $15 for select titles
Director's Label Vol. 3: The Work of Director Michel Gondry

The Gump packaging was odd. It was the thickness of a normal double case, but the discs were placed on spindles, with one disc overlapping the other. So you can't remove disc 2 without first removing disc 1. Was this the case with it when it was originally released? Or is this some kind of cheap-o packing change since the title seems to be lowered in price now (apologies if this has been covered at some point before)?
