Other region dvd sound question (non-region 1) - DVDfile.com forum for DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD

Anybody collect dvd's from other regions? My question is this: I just received a Region 3 copy of The Others. Excellent movie. AND the Region 3 has a DTS that just shames the Region 1 edition. Now I have seen other titles in other Regions that have DTS tracks, like Region 2 Mummuy Returns, or Region 3 of Insomnia, etc., etc....

Do the soundtracks actually get remastered in DTS for these releases? On The Others it certainly is louder, but I wonder sometimes if it isn't just 5.1 louder, and they somehow was able to just add something to the dvd to encode it into DTS. Anybody have some insight on this?
