couple of spelling mistakes (don't mind me, just being anal):
"pointing it's deadly" (no apostrophe needed)
"precense" (should be presence)
"entierly"
"one of the most frightening horror film in years"
(should be "one of the most frightening horror films in years")
"spine chilling" should be hyphenated
"atmosphare"
"prencense"

Also, why not call it "Ringu"?

I do like the front cover and the style of the "ring" text.
I personally hate having front covers ruined by a widescreen banner, so wouldn't like that addition.

Has the R1 official cover been released yet? It might be just as good!

The title just translates as 'Ring'. Not to get into a whole language conversation but it's just 'Ring'. RIIING.

And the R1 cover art is what it's always been- the crummy well picture with the awful quotes. There's a mini version of it on the news page.

And I don't like the spine text font. Otherwise everything's fine. Good use of the original poster art.

Great job on the cover and all. But we finally get something in R1 that is "official", why fuck it up with a bootleg cover?

Well the above cover explains why the American version gets the stupid cover.

The original poster art for "The Ring" looks too much like the cover of "Ringu".

They were probably afraid too many people would buy the wrong one.

The original movie that inspired The Ring

That sounds so dumb! It should say "The good one." Just kidding, I liked the American remake very, very much. There's just a special place in my brains for the original.

I really like your cover JammA, it's certainly better than the actual one, in my opinion.

Holy fucking shit, is that ACTUALLY the OFFICIAL Region one cover art? If so, when I buy the DVD, I am taking it out and BURNING IT. I would rather have no cover than have to look at that again. My god, it makes the cover for the remake look like high art.

In any case, JammA, your cover is much better than the one posted in this thread, but IMHO needs quite a bit of work. Perhaps if you made the image on the cover slightly smalller, giving the cover more black space, it might stand out more. In addition, I'd certainly do something different with the front typeface, as the current one is cheese-o-rama.

I really like the dark blue background image you used for the back, as well as the stills you've chosen. Once again, the biggest thing I can suggest is to choose a MUCH less intrusive font, as the current choice just kind of uglies-up an otherwise very tasteful back cover.

Arigato,
Brook

I like! I would leave a spot for the UPC barcode. That way the barcode from the upcoming release can be placed on it.

Sweet looking cover, JammA. I would definitely download and print it out for my copy once it is finalized. (I assume that once the actual DVD is release there may be some alterations to the back, as usually happens with these fan-created covers.)

BTW, I like that you chose to change the title back to "Ring" with the Japanese intersecting it, rather than "Ringu" on the actual release art.

The official cover is the ugliest cover I have ever seen, shades of Val Kilmer on Real Geniuses.
