The Rules of Attraction=6 commentaries

Well, I may be a huge fan of the film but this does seem excessive. Still, I'm excited. Ron Jeremy does a commentary! Yay! But so does Carrot Top...yeesh.:flush:

I love those Sundance channel "Anatomy of a Scene" bits. Sounds like a great one.

I didn't realize the film was too low-budget for a DD track. That's kind of too bad given the great 80's soundtrack.

Feb. 18 hurry up!!

Who the hell is Carott Top??? I'm French by the way, so I don't know him!
By the way is "The rules of attraction" really worth a blind purhase??? I read the book and liked it (but it was a bit too long in some parts). Is the movie better than the book?

He's just like Jerry Lewis. You'll like him.

Refer to my Feb. 18 thread for more on this topic. I loved the film and it is in my ten best of 2002 at the moment. I haven't read the book.

I don't see the connection to Carrot Top. But I think it should be a standard feature on all DVDs - Carrot Top Audio Commentary.

I'll rent it. Are they still not releasing an unrated version?

I have a thread bout that elsewhere. Lions Gate went ahead and put this release out instead of the unrated one. The director has stated many, many times he has a unrated cut and the he was mixing a 5.1 track for it. The way it was supposed to be was the theatrical version would be 2.0 and the unrated 5.1. Sadly Lions Gate bolted and didn't go for the directors cut, lame

that is terrible news. So that explains the lack of 5.1. Dissapointing. Studios must start listening to the filmmakers and fans more. Especially smaller ones like Lions Gate.

I actually r eally loved the movie--i'm surprised by DVDFILE's review sayign the movie didnt' work or make sense. I can see peopel finding it too downbeat, etc but...

However most of the commentaries sound poiontless to me. Ya Ron Jeremy can be funny (and coming from a gay male that means something) but i don't get why he's on there, and Carrot Top is brilliant cuz of it's absurd high concept but otherwise idiotic. Sommerhalder comes off as homophobic in his commentary? charming. Etc. Just kidna disappointing

I've seen some of the anatomy of a scene tho' and it seems to be a great extra

Ron Jeremy is one of Avary's muses. He was briefly in KILLING ZOE (see robbery scene). It makes a bit more sense than Carrot Top, but I now think the whole thing is brilliant, except for Lion's Gates terrible artwork and the lack of 5.1 director's cut.

It still looks like a great disc, and yeah, I foud DVDFile's review of the film ludicrous and insulting to people who might have liked it. Why is it they're so hard on this film, but the typical fluff gets praised for being mindless entertainment. I don't really look to this site for critical reviews, though. Just the goods on the releases and dates.

IndiePhantom thanks for the clarification--I reallyw asn't too familiar with Avery before--I thought his work on Rules of A was, give oir take a bit, ner brilliance but I was attracted to the movie cuz I'm a fan of the novel and author not the director initially.

Agreed on DVDfile's review but whatever--I'm still shocked they haven't reviewed some major releases like Buffy3 yet

I have some possible good news.

Theres a new review on amazon.com that warns not to purchase the current dvd when released & wait for the 'real deal'(unrated version & Ellis,Avary commentary!) being released a few months after!

Now i'd take it with a grain of salt.Yet when you consider everything thats been mentioned on Avary's site....

8 commentaries being recorded including one by him & another by Ellis.Yet the dvd only has 6 & theres no mention of Avaryor Ellis in sight!

So with how studio's love double dipping us.That may be whats happening.Heck Lion's Gate already did this with Monster's Ball..a R version then a real Unrated SE down the line.

So keep your eyes out for any new information.I loved the film & am hoping for a uncut release!

Although no matter what I will be picking up the first release, those who are not ones who like to double dip may not want to pick this version up. I wouldn't be suprised at all if in a few month we see a date for a Signature Series for this. I mean it's all done just a matter of putting it on DVD

wow...more bizarre stuff. I'm started to get PO'd because the studios are pulling this. It happened with LD, and it has finally caught up here. They know our weaknesses. I know I won't be able to put off both this and PDL. Hell, I'll probably be getting them both.

Again COME OUT WHERE?!?!?!? COME OUT OF WHAT?!?!?
The closet? I don't know what the hell is going on.

Yes they are both actors in this movie (www.imdb.com comes in handy with that kind of info.)
FYI, Van Der Beek is a bisexual sex machine in this film (the character is even moreso in the novel).

Please explain what you think Shannyn's coming out of/ from (in the nude apparently, from you first post). I don't what your asking/ telling/ questioning...
