The Dark Crystal

When I saw this at the theater I was probably only 8 or 9 years old, but it made quite an impression on me.Thank you, Columbia Tr-Star for helping to bring back those memories.

This DVD is fantastic. The widescreen picture looks incredible (especially considering the age of the movie), and it is full of supplemental material.

Aside from the movie, what really stood out was the hour-long documentary. It is probably one of the best 'making of' specials I've seen on DVD so far. It's not just movie clips (like many are), but has extensive behind the scenes footage and most of it has comments from Jim Henson & Frank Oz. The only thing missing is a commentary track (one w/Frank Oz would have been nice), but with everything else included it's hard to complain.

If you saw this as a kid & are not sure if it held up over time, trust me and get it.
(and only $17 online..take that, Di$ney !)

I have to agree with you. The transfer is so great, both audio and video, that it seems like it was a movie released in 1999.

A great addition.

I didn't see this in the theater because I was far too young. I do remember seeing it when I was about 5 or 6 and it scared the bejeezus out of me!

I'm glad to hear other people appreciate this film as much as I do.

But does anyone know what has happened to the Labyrinth DVD? DVD-Express should have had it in stock by Friday, and I haven't found it at any of the other online shops that I know of either. Has it been postponed again?

Thanks, beldvd! Guess I don't need to cancel my order at DVD-Express. But I wonder why they haven't gotten the disc yet...

My copy of Labyrinth is on backorder at reel.com... probably the same at Dvdexpress. I would guess that orders for this disc were higher than they expected. :-)
