Has anyone heard the sad, sad, sad news reagrding Robert Altman's "Nashville?"

I don't know if anyone else read this in roger Ebert's Movie Answer Man column today but he said that there can never be another release of Altman's masterpiece, "Nashville." The reason given is that the film is too damaged to be remastered and also the process used to make the film was not very good. I am assuming that this maymean there won't be a DVD Special Edition now. I am sorely pissed at the powers that be for this sin. it is one of my favorite films. And anyone who has tried to watch the videotape will tell you how shitty the pic quality is on VHS. Yet another one bites the dust (no pun intended)...

Yes, the movie was originated on unstable stock and the negatives have been lost. Aside from some very damaged prints, only an analogue Pan&Scan transfer of the film remains. Just think, if OAR trnasfers had always been the norm, at least we would have an analogue OAR transfer. Down with Pan and Scan!
