All 7 seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation

I was just wondering who among us got all the seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I did and I'm still waiting to start Season 6.

Has anyone finished all the seasons yet?

I just got Season 2 today to finish up the set. I'm nearly through season 1. As to how much it cost. I got all but Season 2 and 3 used for $67.99 (season 1 was actually only $59.99) and they were in immaculate shape so I didn't pay near retail for all of them.

Hmmm.. I have 3-7 because I can't bring myself to spend almost $200 on two crappy seasons of star trek.

Has anyone noticed the picture quality isn't so hot on these sets... or is it just me? I notice 'bluing' on the corners of the screen during starting and end credits... bluing being a blue haze/almost a seeping in the corners...

Its mostly pretty decent picturewise, but it does seem to me to be lacking at times...

That's because all the FX was done on videotape for the series so it suffered some quality because of it.

I noticed a blue tint in the top and bottom left corners on mine, but I didn't know if it was some setting on my TV doing it, or what.. Glad to know I'm not alone..

I've got 1-4 so far. I haven't had the money to pick up 5-7, but I plan to. I have no intention of getting any of the DS9 sets, though..

I've heard a LOT of concern about this. People DO seem to think something's wrong with their TV. Nope; this is definately coming from the DVDs.

Some people state that it was visible during TNG's original broadcasts, but if it was then my memory's a bit hazy about that. I have a feeling that this might be true, but I'm too lazy to dig out my old VHS tapes and check!

I have all 7 seasons and am on the 2nd disc of Season 7. Going through all these episodes, I remembered how hooked I was on this show (and Trek in general) when it was first on. And, I most likely will be getting DS9, as I ended up liking it even better than TNG. May have to pass on Voyager, though. That one lost me after a while.

Dang, I'm a geek. Paramount will be getting too much of my money this year. I can't believe how much money I spend on DVDs, but I imagine a lot of folks on this board can relate.

I want them, but I can't even think about until I've got all the Babylon 5 sets. The second season should be out in April, if I remember correctly. After that, these will be mine as well.

Yep, I'm agreeing here. Season 1 had a few ok episodes, but IMO it didn't take off till season 3. Feel free to disagree.

And, nope, haven't finished seeing all the seasons yet.

Yep, all 7 seasons of TNG here. I haven't come close to watching them all. I watch them here and there in random order, taking a few discs with me on trips. I'm a completist and can enjoy even the lesser seasons, so I have to have them all.

Now, DS9 is coming up in under a month.....between that and B5....yikes! I need more money!

Just ordered all 7 seasons brand new for $520-can't wait to get them!

Can't believe I waited this long-should've just got them a season at a time...finding out that they're 5.1 is what finally pushed me over the edge. I've seen most of the episodes before, so I think I'll try and just watch them all in order. Did that with all the X-Files set too...

Blue Glow

The blue glow in the credits has been there since the next generation on TV.
I've never found a definitive answer as to why its there but I believe it's glare from an enterprise necell just out of shot.

I'd expect that when creating the credits the effects department took a starfield that contained the enterprise and selected a small portion of it to base the starfield effect on, managing to catch some necell glare when they did so.

Anyone know for sure?

Indeed... when threads like this get bumped it makes me remember how long I have been here, which is the main reason I stay. It's like seeing Kirk Cameron become an asshole over years and years of Growing Pains.

I never responded to this thread though, so... here:

I own all 7 and have gone through them twice. TNG rules!

Still wishing I had all 7 (only Season 2), but I will probably wait for HD now.

I've got all 7 seasons of TNG.
I also have all 7 seasons of DS9.

Love them both.
Waiting for HD TOS to come down in price.

Compared to Fox's animated DVDs, these seem like HD versions.

Wow I started this thread 4 years ago?!

I'm almost done with my second go-around of "Star Trek: The Next Generation".

I've only watched my "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" sets once, and GloWorm and I are just about done with "Star Trek: Voyager".

TNG was done on video tape with the special effects so that probably doedn't help in the picture quality.
