Gang Tapes, Holy Sheat!

Am I the only one of the board that's seen this incredible film? I read a review at AICN, where I learned about this film that the reason it wasn't released in theaters last year was because the theater owners were to afraid there would be shoot outs at the theaters. Well it was released on DVD recently. After watching it last night, I think a lot of people would have enjoyed this film. The whole film is seen through the view of a regular camera (like in the blair witch project). It starts out with a white family recording their vacation in Hollywood, then get lost and are carjacked. After that the camera is in the hands of the main character, a 13 year old. We see him go from an innocent kid, to a gang member. I can't really say anything else without giving away the movie. If you liked The Blair Witch Project, or Boyz in the Hood, you should defenitely get this film.

I read this thread awhile ago, and finally rented it today, I started watching it, but no one else in the room was interested, so we're watching Igby Goes Down right now. So, i'll continue watching it later. So far it looks great and they made much better use of the camera than Blair Witch did.

Huh, sounds like an interesting combination, and one I can't possibly turn down. Bad or good, this sounds like a pretty entertaining film. I'll be renting it soon most likely.

I saw some of it while my brother was watching it. I'm not usually one for these types of movies but it did look interesting. I think I will have to nab it off him and watch it sometime

icon, but did you notice that the framing in the trailers and the extras was in 1.85:1 and the dvd release is in full screen, even it is supposed to be widescreen, this is one movie that is better in fullscreen(did I actually just say that? ) because it is shot from a dv camera, the extras aren;t that bad either

Yeah I noticed that too. But it would be pretty stupid if it was anything but full screen considering it's concept.
