I already own Serving Sara...

So it looks like MAYBE Banger Sisters and MAYBE Free Willy, depending on the price.

Dennis the Menace and Serving Sara will be it for me Tuesday, possible Friday.

I take that back, I may pick up Roots this week, too.

Free Willy - 10th Anniversary Special Edition is the only definate; I'd like the sequels too as well as both Dennis the Menace movies, but due to lack of funds I can't afford it all.

On a side note - I have to wonder what genius decided to pan-and-scan Free Willy III: The Rescue while giving the first two grade-A 2.35:1 anamorphic transfers. Maybe the fact that Part III is the only one shot at 1.85:1 has something to do with it, but I don't see why the ratio would make that much of a difference.

On the one hand, what a horrid week for new releases. On the other hand, my wallet gets a much deserved rest. Absolutely nothing for me.

None for me.
The only one I would have slightly condidered is the Criterion release of "The Killers" (both versions in a 2-disc set). But that's missing from the above list... perhaps it's delayed?

I did order these from Amazon though:
- Band of Outsiders
- Blue Crush
- Breaking the Waves

Some folks are planning to have or already have Serving Sara in your collection? And you're advertising this fact?

Saving up for an expensive February most likely...

I'm not buying anything on the list. I will be picking up Zwan - Mary Star of the Sea. It comes with a 35 minute DVD of live and studio footage + interviews. It's too bad that some of my favorite live tracks didn't make the cut, but the rumor is that they might make it onto an acoustic Djali Zwan album later this year.

I saw the documentary on IFC a couple of months ago, but I'm surprised it's out on DVD so quickly. Thanks for the review link, Marq. I'm glad I wasn't the only person who thought the documentary ignored some of the more influential Blaxploitation films. Unless you're an obsessed Blaxploitation fan, I only recommend a rental--why spend the coin on a DVD that's barely an hour long?

I rewatched Jackie Brown on Saturday and of course I had to run out and add The Mack and some of the other "Women in Prison" exploitation flicks that starred Pam Grier to my collection. Incidentally, isn't Sweet Sweetback's BaadasssssSong supposed to be out on DVD this month (from Xenon, the same folks who gave us a crappy Dolemite DVD :rar: )?

This week's crop of new DVDs is woeful, but since February has The Killers CC, Fear and Loathing CC, Igby Goes Down, Road to Perdition, Living in Oblivion, Gloria, Tales of the City, Angel, DS9, One Hour Photo, The Man Who Fell to Earth SE, Monster's Ball (the Lion's Gate uncut "Signature" edition) and many titles I can't recall right now, I'm glad it's slow right now (whew!).

Criterian did a Laserdisc of Sweet Sweetback's BaadasssssSong. Ahhh yeah... those were the days.

I do wish Criterian would do a DVD for all those LDs they did in the past.

Nothing here either - although my wife plans to *rent* Banger Sisters.

Nope - between 3 titles I want March 25th, the Miyazaki stuff in April and the "yet to be priced but I bet it's expensive" Alien Quadrilogy set in June, I'll have lots of chances to deplete my checking account in a single day soon enough.
