Oh I paid to see it. Definitely worth it too. One really twisted and distrubing comedy, but a damn funny one.

I thought this was one of the few comedies that I could watch over and over (kevin Smith and Farelly Bros. films and Half Baked)although a few scenes I thought could have been edited (Security guard crying as he slowly died) but over all this was a very funny and rewatchable film. Cant wait till the next film from this director. Sorry if this seems a bit wierd, I'm really drunk right now

I can't believe that there are people who liked VBT. Sorry, I don't mean to drag anyone down but I thought this was an ugly, horrid little piece of filmmaking and completely without merit. I sat in a theater watching this and I wanted to run home and take a shower afterwards. thankfully, I snuck in to it and did not have to pay. That is seven bucks this film did not make. Thank you very much!

Even though I felt a bit violated atfer watching VBT I must say it was perfectly dark
and very funny... sans the crying security guard. I had to pop out of the theatre during that scene to go talk with my friend up in the projection book. The ending was especially twisted, and I dug it. I won't say much but the whole " falling out of the wheelchair" scene was too damn funny. ![]() If it wasn't for the fact that I worked at the theatre I prob would have paid for it. BTW how is the DVD? I've only seen the film twice in the theatres. Sub-Girl |

See "Go" instead. Mean spririted men stuff is out (aka the Man Show). "Go" got it right.
I'm just glad I didn't see this in the theater. If I saw people laughing at some of this stuff, I'd have been sickened. Black comedy is an art, and very difficult to do well (see Heathers and practically any Coen Brothers movie for examples). If give Peter Berg a B for effort and a F for execution. IM(not so)HO. (appended-- I recognize that 7-15 years ago, I may have enjoyed this film, in me twisted days.) [This message has been edited by Mike B (edited 10-12-1999).] |

I saw Go and liked it as much as I did VBT.
![]() That was one of those movies that you sit in the theatre and quietly say " Ohh! Daaammn.." then chuckle internally. There was a guy in the back row of the theatre roaring with laughter. That was the scary part. I felt like I was in Cape Fear 2. Of course Swingers was still a bit better than Go but the answer machine guy in Swingers did better in VBT. ------------------ Molitovs & Bottle Rockets, Sub-Girl [This message has been edited by Sub-Girl (edited 10-12-1999).] |

I really liked Go too. I've got that one on DVD. I'm not sure if I'd like VBT on DVD because I think it would lose some of it's oomph after repeated viewings. I've yet to see Swingers. Is it in the same dark comedy as the afforementioned movies? Would you guys & gals reccomend it? I've been meaning to give Netflix a try. I've just been waiting for some movies that I'm not sure about buying.

Hey I really enjoyed VBT and I have watched it several times - each time is a bit more entertaining! If you want to see a movie that is offensive watch "Happiness". I did enjoy this but it was much more morally objective then VBT. I had a bit of trouble with the pedophile thing!

tomwarnock,
but the multiple murders of vbt are ok though? (not condoning pedophila, but neither did the filmmakers of 'happiness'). It's really a case of different films for different audiences and show two different approaches to edgy black comedy. different strokes etc. cheers, Mike |
